"Ed retrieved the carpet from Home Depot, saving me their delivery cost. He removed the old carpet and padding, then installed new. He swept the bare floor before installing the pad, and vacuumed the carpet when the job was completed. All told, it took him about 2 hours. However, he didn't have to install tacking strips (since the room had already been carpeted), so if your job needs those, it would take longer. Friendly, courteous, prompt."

"The rep came and measured the floors and came up much higher than our figures. We received the estimate and the dollars did not add up. We called and questioned the math. The next estimate was substantially lower and the figures closely matched our own measurements. <br /> The installation went well. The hardwood installer did a fantastic job with matching the existing floor and trimming the edges. We are extremely happy with the hardwood floor. <br /> The carpet installation was done by a different crew. It went as expected. The installer did a nice job carpeting the stairs and trimming out the hallway doors. <br /> Even with the reduced estimate on the second invoice we had extra boxes of the hardwood that we were able to return for a credit. <br />"

"They were excellent. They are going to be coming out and repair our hardwoods as well. They are going to cut the rug down to size while they are out here. We picked out the carpet and they cut it down to the size I wanted and bound it. They brought it out and laid it. It was reasonably priced, more than buying nice throw rugs. They have put hardwood floors in our other house. To fix the hardwoods he will charge by the hour. One rug is 10 by 12 and the other one is 15 by 12 and I paid $900 for both rugs. It included the delivery, binding, and the felt pad underneath. It was the cheapest that I was able to find."

"The people on the phone are all very professional. The guys that come here are professional and they know what they're doing and the things that they're talking about well. I'm kind of in awe of the knowledge that they have of carpet and whatever. They don't look like a bunch of slobs either. They'll be here in an hour."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Waynesville, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
