"I have bought carpet and vinyl from Sam and Janice for both my home and business. This time I went for help with carpeting for my 90 year old Aunt. Not only did Sam do the measuring, but he helped me pick out the new carpet for her. The installers, Miguel and assistant, did a good job too. I am happy with their service and products once more."

"Lance is wonderful. He reached out right away after I submitted my project on Angie’s List. We set up a good time for him to inspect the job. Lance stretched 7 Year old carpet so it looks new again! The installer we used before said nothing could be done and walked away. Thanks again Lance!"

"Selection was excellent and prices were fair. Installation did not go well, and as a result, carpeting had to be replaced. The owner went unbelievably out of his way to make sure the fix was appropriate, including personally supervising the replacement. He felt worse about the problem than we did! Weeks later, he's still apologizing....I no longer answer the phone! To us, the true measure of a quality operation is how problems are solved, and this company is the best. Will definitely use again, and recommend to others."

"Floor Coverings International (FCI) was an excellent company to work with. I needed someone who could remove ceramic tiles and carpeting, measure, and install a specific product I was only able to find online. Local companies only provided these services if I bought their flooring. I found FCI via Thumbtack. They responded immediately to my inquiry. Ally, the design coordinator, came to my house and was a pleasure to work with - knowledgable, professional and very helpful in assisting me with my project. As the job proceeded I found the whole team to be comprised of quality people. Jason, the flooring installer is a craftsman. His workmanship provided beautiful results. From my experience I can say they stand behind their promise to make the customer happy. You can trust them to do you right."

"Overall the experience was great.  They were very nice at the store when helping us pick out the carpeting and vinyl.  They sent out a guy for the estimate right away.  Scheduling was tricky because they are very busy but they also ended up getting the job done the two days after Christmas which I was pleasantly surprised about.  They weren't the cheapest option so I gave them a C (fair) on the price because it was more than a lot of other quotes, but the service and quality of the product we got was worth the extra money.  Would recommend them and use them again in the future. <br />"

"John at the store was excellent to work with. We were shown multiple carpets from several manufacturers and were allowed to take samples home for as long as needed. He worked with us regarding the price so we could stay within our budget. The employee who came out to measure, as well as the installers, both arrived at the agreed upon time. Installers worked very quickly, were courteous ans professional, installation looks great and they cleaned up before they left.  <br /> Bottom line: Fair price for a quality product, no hidden costs, excellent work done on time, courteous and professional. <br />"

"Working with Max Care was a dream. I got quotes from three companies for refinishing approximately 730 sq ft of white oak and maple floors, and Max Care was not only the most professional and courteous but also the most affordable. My white oak living and dining room floors look fantastic; they fixed up several issues and sanded out the water and sunlight damage. The maple bedroom floors also look great. They were also able to give me insight on the bamboo floors in my upper level. (I'm a first-time home owner who just moved into my home; I didn't install any of these floors!) I highly recommend Max Care for your hardwood flooring projects."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in West Allis, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
