"They were very professional and helpful and I hired them for another job in AV already. The co was on time daily and finished the job when they proposed it to be done. Cleaned up after themselves beautifully and my 13 tenants in HB were impressed with the results"

"I got quotes from 4 different asphalt companies for the resurfacing of my 6,000 sq ft driveway. Mike Stanley the owner of Advanced Asphalt gave me a complete quote with the scope of work itemized into 8 items. He was professional and explained in detail everything he was going to do. Not only did he complete all 8 items but also did a bit more. He and his crew did a great job. Mike ran the equipment and was on the job each day. His crew was friendly and experience as well. When it was all done they cleaned the work area and left it looking better than before the work began. We love our new driveway and HIGHLY recommend Mike and Advanced Asphalt. We didn't realize until after the job was complete and our gate wouldn't open that while preparing the old asphalt for the new surface Mike cut through the electrical wires that provided power to our electric gate. It cost $650 to have it repaired and when I asked Mike to pay he thought that was too much. We asked him to bring in his guy to fix it at a better price and he didn't respond. So we offered to split the cost with him. His equipment caused the damage and we needed an operational gate. We have made three requests for payment and even though he said ok, and that he will be out, he has not shown up and has not sent the check. BE AWARE, if he damages your property when performing work on your property, he won't pay to have it fixed! Now I have to take him to small claims court and will do so for the full amount. A disappointing ending to what I thought was a good experience."

"I called Highway Masters and in a little more than an hour, Herminio was at my residence to provide an estimate. While I had asked for an estimate to seal coat the private driveway in front of my house, Herminio said that my asphalt was in good shape and didn't need any work at this time. I truly appreciate his honesty. A lot of other contractors would have gladly done the work and taken the money even if, in their honest opinion, the work wasn't needed. When it comes time to do the work in about a year, I will definitely call Highway Masters."

"I usually don't use the cliche "we couldn't be happier," but we really couldn't be happier with our new paver driveway installed by Falkon. We solicited three bids from companies found on Angie's list. One estimate was really high. A second estimate seemed too good (low) to be true. Based on the Angie's List ratings, I expected Falkon to be about halfway between the two, but the Falkon was almost the same as the "too good to be true" estimate. After researching more and viewing the Falkon website which included past project photos, we selected Falkon for the project. Honestly, at first, I thought Val kind of rushed through the estimate/walkthrough, especially when compared to the experience I had with the other two contractors we spoke with. I'm not saying this to complain. I'm bringing this up to suggest that if you have a similar experience/feeling, don't let that scare you away. Val was always responsive to our needs throughout the decision-making process and the actual project. He never blew us off or made us feel like we were bothering him. Besides, what really counted was the execution of the project and the results. Both were outstanding. Val's crew appeared very experienced. They were punctual and professional. The progress they made each day was phenomenal. We have a pretty large driveway - approximately 1200 square feet with some curving on the borders. Day 1 - Demolished and removed/hauled away old asphalt driveway. Graded soil. Day 2 - Placed underlayments and compacted/graded again Day 3 - Placed all pavers - except for border. Day 4 - Placed bordering pavers and cut inner pavers meeting the border. We requested angled pattern requiring more (and angled) cuts. (By the way, we love the angled paver pattern. Worth the extra effort and cost.) Day. 5 - Filled in gaps between pavers. (about half day). Day 6 - Originally planned, but not needed because everything was completed on Day 5. We highly recommend Falkon Construction for any paver project you are considering."

"Overall job was performed satisfactorily although I thought communication could have been better. The asphalt portion of the job was scheduled to be completed in one day, however, by mid-afternoon the workers had left and the job was not finished. I had to be proactive and contact the company to find out if installation was still going to take place that day or if it would move to the next day. I was told it would move to the next day which was ok. I asked if they could place a couple of orange safety cones next to the demolition area overnight since it was in an area where there was frequent foot traffic; this was agreed. When I returned to the job site late that night no cones were present.
The overall quality of the asphalt work was satisfactory, the concrete work was excellent.
I know this was a small job and think perhaps communication might be better with larger jobs / clients."

"we wanted our front yard raised up and hired EA construction to do the work. They gave us a free estimate and we agreed to do the work. They excavated soil and placed a hardscape masonry wall about 3 feet high in the front yard to raise it up. While they were there I asked them to estimate replacing our concrete driveway as well. We agreed on a price and they began next day. Eric told me it would be about a week. He demolished our old cracked concrete driveway and removed it the first day. The next two days He placed a paver border on concrete with rebar which holds all of the pavers in. He gave us style options of pavers and colors from Orco paving stones. We loved the antique cobble pavers and wanted these placed. He informed us he would do what is called a "random I" pattern which has a pattern but looks random and he was right. The pavers were placed in three days and we were ready to drive on them. Now, over a year later they still good as new. We love the pavers he placed and are glad he sold us on this type of hardscape for our future. I always get compliments and asked who did the work and actually am proud to refer EA Construction. If you want a company that will show up when they say they will and the owner is there from start to finish day in and day out give Eric a call."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in West Covina, CA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
