"Chris came in a timely fashion and did exactly what we discussed on the phone. I have an old window with a wood frame that was rotted through, and he was able to repair it to keep water out. He was a pleasure to work with."

"We were preparing for a wood burning fireplace insert that was already scheduled to be installed; But first, we needed to have our fireplace hearth and mantel rebuilt. Our homes' previous owner slapped together an eyesore (and possible fire hazard) of a DIY mantle. It needed to be demo'd and rebuilt before the wood burning insert was to be installed. With an install date on the calendar, this was now becoming a bit of a rush job. Despite the rushed nature of the project, Mark was very accommodating! He helped us when we didn't have a 100% clear idea of what we wanted. He took our general ideas and created a beautiful focal point in our home that is a vast improvement on what was originally in our living room! He poured the concrete foundation for a granite hearth stone and surround. He facilitated, and was there to help oversee the installation of granite. After the fireplace insert was installed, Mark returned to complete the mantel, and decorative trim. Mark was communicative, on-time, honest and an all-around pleasure to work with! Working from home myself, I was present while Mark was working on our project. We spent a good amount of time just talking while he was on the job, and I found him to be quite friendly! I would absolutely recommend him for your project!"

"It went really well. They came in immediately and sealed off the basement from the rest of the house (There's no door to the basement)). They also set up very large and powerful hepa-air-cleaning units which they kept running through the whole job and in fact until the industrial hygienist returned for post-testing after the job was completed. The manager Mike assured me that the job would be done with the utmost effort and care and that's exactly what happened. The main workers, Marcello and Israel were terrific, meticulous, hard-working, reliable, responsive to any concerns I raised. I really couldn't have asked for any more. The post-test results showed Zero spores of the two bad molds with high readings in the pre-job testing. It's a really nice feeling when people come in and do the job just as they promised to."

"I have used Rob C Construction previously on my townhouse renovation for his professionalism and honesty. I am single woman and find him knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. The kitchen tile came out beautiful on the floor and he repaired a leak as well. Also he tiled, painted, spackled my downstairs bathroom. It came out gorgeous. Other repair work were outside railings, secured deck, repaired concrete front steps. I am satisfied with his work and will continue to use him for other projects. He is honest and trust worthy and not just out there to make money. As a woman, I highly recommend him. He explains your options and treats with you the upmost respect. My next project will be my kitchen cabinets and I will be using him again."

"Within days of purchasing the deal, I received the instructions and paper to draw my table templates. The table has 2 drop leaves plus 2 additional leaves that can be inserted in the table. The templates were pretty easy to draw. The finished pads were delivered in a very short time. They fit the table and each of the 4 leaves perfectly and magnetically lock together to keep them aligned when on the table. A year and a half later, I still love these pads."

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings installation projects in West Milford, NJ

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
