Over the course of two days, Sam was able to remove all the old mortar and caulking, clean the stairs, and replace the mortar with new cement. "I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. "In general, they did a good job.  When I put the second coat on the walls myself, I found several places they had missed.  I had extra lights available, but they didn't want to use them for some reason.  They put drop cloths on the furniture but I found a spot on the hall carpet where paint had dropped.  They hadn't finished after the 4 man hours I purchased (for $199) but they did offer to keep going at $45 a man hour, so I agreed to have them keep working for an additional 4 man hours.  I had some equipment available, although I assumed they would have their own equipment.  The used my pan liners and rollers.
     The ceiling turned out good with only one coat and the walls looked good after I put on the second coat.  They were very friendly and polite, but at times there was a little too much chatting and not enough painting since I was paying by the hour.
