"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"Scheduling was fantastic. They were more than pleasant and flexible when I had to reschedule twice to coincide with the arrival of the new window. They explained the process and rates to me (setup, cutting, clean-up) in detail and that the job usually takes about 3 hours. The price according to friends and others was the best around. The job was to be done early in the morning. The gentleman arrived a few minutes early and we reviewed again what was to be done. First concern was that it was my understanding that something would be put up to catch the mess that was made. I guess I was wrong since I was told it was my responsibility. I had to run out for tarps and throw something up. Then there was also a small problem with the measurements I made but he was very diligent with getting it right. Cutting seemed to go well but things were a little slow because of the measuring and the foundation was so thick. After close to 2-2.5 hours I had to run to work and after talking to the man it seemed like everything would be wrapped up soon but to have my wife call if there are any problems. I also said I don't want you to rush, just do a quality job. But after he finished cutting he left without cleanup. The place was covered in dust, a 30 gallon container of some water and cement mixture, and a couple hundred pounds of two large concrete slabs. He told my wife and assumed I didn't want to pay the extra hour for the cleanup and that it was very easy for me to cleanup myself. Cleanup wasn't easy especially since the window installers were coming the next morning and the slabs were blocking the work area. It took me some 7 hours to the wee hours of the morning to break up the concrete small enough for me to haul outside. Even though I made a make shift enclosure to keep in the dust, there was fogs of dust in my basement for days. I felt like a coal miner with black lung. It took weeks before all the dust was finally settled and vacuumed up. Overall, I think it just came down to this one worker not wanting to clean up or just assuming I could do it. I would still recommend the place for the price and reliability. I would just be very clear about what's expected."

"Walk through and estimate went very well. He wrote a bid out but did not include anything in the list that we wanted him to do. He did redo the bid by  writing out on another form what we wanted him to do. The details were vague on what workmanship would be. We ened going with someone else because of timeframe. <br />"

"They were incredibly responsive during a very hard time. In the space of 4 days our home flooded (during a week when there were lots of homes flooding -- they had a foreman on site to take a look within 24 hours, when a competitor wouldn't have been able to even look at the problem for a month). In addition to our home flooding, our son was in a terrible accident and was in ICU for several days, and the hospital for 5+ weeks (he's still there as I write this). Some folks from our church called Justin at Western and asked if they could provide the labor and they could install the sump system to take care of the immediate flooding project. My wife and I weren't even there and between our awesome Church family and western they dug the trenches and installed a sump system to take care of the flooding issue. Western was super busy with the unprecedented flooding, but they worked with us. The second part of the project in preparing the foundation in a stairway to the basement hasn't been completed yet, but is scheduled, and I'm confident they'll do a great job with that too. I'll repost more info if I feel it is needed."

"The estimator was punctual and had great suggestions to help us economically get the project done. When the guy came to cut the cement, he was very careful when cutting and gave suggestions for options to make it easier for us to actually break out the concrete after his cuts were done. HE was very neat and cleaned up everything after he was done. <br />"

"After over two years of working on our plans, and getting some preliminary drawing done we had a great vision for our new back patio. We talked with numerous builders as we prepared to start our project. We met with Anthony, and looked at several of Straight Line’s previous projects. We marveled at how elegant their projects looked, so we chose to work with them. While we thought we had our project figured out, Anthony did suggest that we may make some adjustments during the course of the construction. He was absolutely correct as we choose to make several adjustments during the process. Everyone we worked with connected with Straight-line; Brad-owner, Anthony-project manager, Brant-lead carpenter, Wesley-concrete, Andre-Painter, Mike-electrician, were so helpful. All the workers we’re more than willing to accommodate our adjustments. Even more valuable for us was how frequently they lent their experienced eyes to suggest options that looked better than what we had originally planned. In the end our back patio looks truly spectacular. Our only frustration was that it was hard to stay on schedule. We realize a few weeks in delay will pale in comparison to a lifetime of backyard enjoyment in our new space. We can’t stop smiling when we walk out into our newly created patio space. We would highly recommend using this company for any outdoor project large or small. In fact even after completion of the work, and payment was made they have been willing to come out to do touch up work to assure everything looked exactly the way it should. We certainly thank them for the Fantastic work that they did on our behalf this summer. John and JoAnne"

"Brad and his crew were prompt and professional. Brad was able to work with us to get our roof done prior to the closing on the house, as that was a condition of the sale. He worked with us to determine the shingle color, advised us on what we needed to make this roof perfect, and was always upfront and honest about everything. Since we know he is not only limited to roofing, we intend to use him in the future for any of our remodeling/construction needs. <br /> We would not hesitate to recommend Weathertite to anyone. Others may have more Angie's List reviews, but don't take that to mean anything other than that Brad is just getting started. We have no doubt his will soon be one of the top-reviewed companies here. <br />"

"Curtis Dean of LTJ Builders met with us numerous times as we were planning our house and checked in with us as construction was being completed. He was willing to work with us and the ideas we had and made suggestions along the way as to how he thought things might be better done. He never forced us to go with his suggestions but in some cases they make a lot more sense then what we had originally designed. All the workers were very professional and the jobs were performed as promised and on time. He took pictures along the way of the entire building process and gave those to us on a CD. We are very happy about the end result and things that we found that needed to be corrected were addressed and taken care of immediately. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Westport, WA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
