"french drain and sump pump installed. didn't stop the seepage but the moisture did collect in the sump (not enough for the pump to run). wall still seeps, mold still grows, but the floor is dry. dehumidifier added, works well as it does pull humidity from the air. not the best outcome for my problem. caution - make sure the 'cure' is fully explaind as to what it will/won't do for your problem. I may have misunderstood their solution."

"You will not find a better company to work with. From the first call to the end of the project, everyone was responsive, considerate and professional. I had a lot of questions which were answered patiently and thoroughly. During the estimation work, Brian from EFS suggested that since there was shearing along almost the entire length of the foundation wall, that the entire wall had to be stabilized – and this included placing a beam behind the furnace. This is a very small and difficult space to work in and required that the some of the furnace duct work and the water tank be pulled. When I asked other contractors about that portion of the wall I was told that it was not necessary to reinforce the wall there, and that I could have it checked in a year or so to see if additional corrective work was required. This was presented to me as a way to save some money, but I felt that I would rather not take a ‘wait and see’ approach - I would rather prevent the problem then have to go through another corrective procedure at a later date. Brian explained that for the wall to be stabilized correctly that the beams had to be placed everywhere there was shearing, not just the places that were easy to get to. In my opinion, this is just one example of the thoroughness of their approach to a job well done. I received estimates from four companies and after doing additional research and then seeking the opinion of an independent structural engineer, I was convinced that EFS was my best choice. Foundation repair work can be expensive and overwhelming as far as making a decision, but Brian made sure that I understood the nature of the work that had to be completed. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone."

"The salesperson David was very honest and had no interest in upselling. He strongly advised against any interior drains for my basement, and he instead recommended an exterior drain called HydroBlox for my backyard. The estimate for the HydroBlox was $3,400. The installation occurred a few weeks later. Three employees used a machine to dig a trench in my backyard, and then because of utility lines, they hand-dug another trench in my side yard. They installed the pieces of HydroBlox and covered them with dirt. I expect the HydroBlox to properly drain the water from my yard, but if they do not, then I will update my review in the future."

"I had a 50-year-old house with a cinderblock basement wall that had water slowly coming through. I researched the various firms that did waterproofing and had three highly rated firms come out for an estimate. The first contractor didn’t even bring a flashlight and just looked around and said to keep an eye on it. The second gentlemen did provide detailed estimate and carefully explained the problem. Randy, the owner, from Chamberlin Washington provided a similar diagnosis and estimate. His estimate was not only a little less expensive but he looked at the entire house and found other things that could use some maintenance. This is what I liked about Randy – he looked at the whole house and discovered several smaller things that should be fixed to avoid issues down the road. These were all things I knew about already but I’m glad someone took the time to examine the entire house and not just the one issue I was having. We had then not only waterproof the outside wall but also fill the expansion joints in our patio and seal one basement window as well as re-point some mortar joints in the brink chimney. When the crew came they went to work. They also did an admirable job protecting our plants. An old section of of a 6' high stockade fence had to be removed and I bough a new section and the crew was happy to put that up. When they water tested the wall they found a small leak. They re-did the sealant and that did the trick. Randy came out and supervised critical parts of the job. He was great to work with and happily fixed a few small things at the end. Randy really cares about doing the job right. I am 100% pleased with the work they did. I watched over much of the repair and everything was done correct and by the book. Overall I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Chamberlin-Washington and their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

"I found Dorian Dyer's original paintings to be thought provoking and yet peaceful at the same time. <br /> He creates scenes of a simple and pure love using subjects such as eagles, geese, buffalo, people, the Earth, and the cosmos.  All of Dorian's art expresses a connection with one another and all life.   <br /> With an initial gaze at Dorian's paintings you may see an abstract or New Age piece of art, but when you relax and take a few moments to look deeper, an inner knowing of the masterpiece of all life will come forward.  There is love, beauty, and a gentle reminder of God's presence within each piece of art. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Wheeling, WV

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
