"10/10 would recommend! I had Brett out to do a general inspection on a home that we are purchasing. Extremely professional and knowledgeable. He walked us and our realtor through all of his findings, and even had a comprehensive report that he sent to us after. The report was complete with pictures and a rating system of most severe to least. PS: We did not have him do the radon gas testing but that was the only option for this review form."

"This is the review. Let me know this is good before I send Prompt and on time service for the asbestos removal along with safe and proper poly containment. Also 3rd party testing confirmed safe air test. The workers were in suits, masks and had ASD machines running very professional and highly recommended for any asbestos work! We are very pleased the cleanup was nice, with no debris . I would definitely hire again if needed"

"It was fantastic. I would give them better than A if possible. He seems to have a variety of skills and he's very good and very neat. He went above and beyond like last Wednesday it was really snowy and he pulled his truck into the drive and he needed to make a little path to get his tools from the truck to the house but then he dug around my car because he knows that my husband has difficulty. So he thought that if we needed to get out we would have a little space around the car. He didn't have to do that and I didn't ask him to do that but that's just the kind of guy he is. He also noticed the smell of natural gas outside, so we called the gas company and they found a really tiny leak around our meter that they plugged. He exceeds expectations."

"John arrived on-time with his radon tech. Gave a thorough inspection and was very friendly and helpful. He wanted to ensure any questions I had as a potential buyer were answered about the home, and gave tips on general maintenance should I move forward with the purchase. He was very professional, and engaging. It made the multi-hour inspection useful and interesting. Would highly recommend. Especially considering the great price."

"Steve arrived a few minutes early, talked about what he would and would not be looking at, basically he looked at anything he could inspect without completely taking things apart (he did take access panels off, just advised that he wouldn't be breaking into walls). He didn't mind that I walked through with him and asked questions. He was very thorough and found a few things that while not deal-breakers, where things I definitely wanted resolved by the seller. He was professional and courteous and obviously has a good deal of experience. His report was thorough and quick, he gave me a hand written copy upon completion, e-mailed typed copy later that night (to me and my Realtor). <br /> Since the Radon test requires 48 hours, I didn't get that the same day, but he emailed the results shortly after he picked up the test device and got them himself. He also left a contact card and notes explaining the Radon test to the seller near the unit in the basement, as well as on the dining room table and on each door leading out of the house. <br /> I would definitely use him again! <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Willoughby, OH

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
