"On two occasions, I have had to replace several roof shingles missing or damaged by high wind storms. DWM Roofing has been quick to respond to my service requests and very prompt in performing the repairs at a reasonable cost each times."

"After seeing several water spots on my ceilings, I called two roofing companies to evaluate. One recommended an inexpensive solution for a few minor repairs. Jay from Home Wise recommended a full replacement. After a lengthy discussion to try to understand why the disparity, I went with Jay and full replacement. When my shingles were removed it was just like Jay said - multiple areas of excessive water damage with many pieces of plywood being replaced. The inexpensive repair would have been a complete waste of money. The work went smoothly and I have a beautiful new roof. I highly Recommend Jay and his team. Could not find a better company for your work."

"Overall, our roof installation went well. Mr. Bafford came to the house to do the roof consultation. We appreciated his professionalism, knowlege in roofing, and being prepared as well as thorough. Afterwards, I contacted Mr. Bafford a couple of times with questions and he got back to right away. The price quote was fair and comparable to other quotes we received. Mr. Bafford came out to the house a second time with materials to assist us on selscting a roof color. Unfortunately, after everything was scheduled, our old roof leaked. Fitchtner Services were great about moving the roof install date sooner. The crew came and they were done in one day. They picked up scrapes and you could barely tell they were there. The roof looks great and I’m very pleased with the work. Thank you! Sincerely, Lisa L"

"Of the three estimates I received, Glen Burnie Roofing was the best. Word of mouth in my area, coupled with the ratings I found on Angieslist sold me. I had heard that they can be hard to book since the are so in demand. I waited about 3 weeks for the job to get done, which was a little less than the time they told me before I signed the contract. The team was very professional and worked extremely hard to finish my rather large, multi-leveled roof in a day. They installed a "chimney" to replace the ungly old metal one. It has a brick facade and greatly exceeded my expectations. On other thing stood out. I had a loose piece of siding that was starting to flap in the wind and, without saying a word before or afterwards, Mike fixed it for me. There's a reason Glen Burnie Roofing has fantastic ratings."

"After Hurricane Irene we discovered water in our attic and I thought we would be in need of serious roof repair or replacement.  We called Tomas Bros. based on a recommendation from a coworker.  Two very nice, very professional men came out and replaced the vent along the attic with something called a cobra vent, which they explained would not allow wind to push rain into the attic.  I was thrilled that we were not going to have to buy a new roof or do major repairs on this one.  The men were polite and courteous and punctual and I felt like we were treated well during what must have been a busy time for them after the hurricane (lots of folks nearby had damage to their homes).  We will definitely give them a call again if we need roof work in the future. <br />"

"<p>Horizon installed a new roof back in September of 2011. We recently noticed two small leaks and the roof is guaranteed for 15 years if coated every five years with an aluminum coat. Called, they came the next day and checked out the roof. Their conclusion was the leaks were coming from a small tiled section of the roof where some tiles were missing, not from the main roof which they installed.</p> <p>They fixed the leaks - at no charge - and advised me that the aluminum covering was fine and would not need a recoat for at least a couple of years.</p> <p>These guys do a great job, and stand by both the letter and the spirit of their guarantee. </p> <p>I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them</p> <br />"

"They did what they said they were going to do and did a good job and I paid $400. I think they charge too much, but it was what it was. They came when they said they would come, gave me the estimate and did the work. I also asked for an estimate for a repair on the roof because I think I needed some slight repair on the gutters. I thought that the estimate they gave me was unprofessional because they just jotted it down on paper. The quality of work was fine, but the price was a little too high. I would hire them again for the snow removal."

"<p> </p> <p>Our roof was damaged due to a hail storm.  Randy Spect from ReBuid, Inc.  came highly recommended, and I have since highly recommended him to others.  One of ReBuild?s services that impressed me was their expertise in working with insurance companies in handling damage claims.  They are a local company, have been in business for years, are professional, provide good service, and are very punctual.</p> <p> </p> <p>  </p> <p> </p> <p>Randy Spect quickly returned all calls.  He not only helped us with the roof installation process but also helped us through the insurance claim process.  He inspected our roof to assess the damage, then met with the insurance claims adjuster during their inspection of our roof to make sure all of the damages were included in the claim. He also coordinated with the insurance company in processing the claim. After receiving the necessary documents from the insurance company, we scheduled an appointment with Rebuild and they were out to install our roof within 2 weeks. </p> <p><br /></p> <p> </p> <p>The roofing crew did a great job.  They were on time, polite, and hardworking. FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Windsor Mill, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
