"Martin Asphalt Paving sealed my driveway and filled in cracks in the pavement. The staff were very respectful of me and my property and took time to explain what they would be doing and demonstrated great caution to prevent any sealer from getting on the house/siding. Were there and done in no time."

"I had a Groupon for 1000 sq. ft. of driveway sealing.  I have about 2000 sq. ft.  I bought the Groupon and called, and I was told it would be another $170, so I wanted to set the appointment.  It actually took a year to get done, as he had too many Groupon customers and was giving scheduling preference to his existing client base.  Once we had the appointment, they arrived on time, could not have been more pleasant, did a great job, and left the area spotless. <br />"

"Steve Violette removed old asphalt and discovered they needed to remove close to two feet of clay. Clay was replaced with 2 feet of crushed stone and compacted. Three inches of asphalt was applied and compacted. Due to removal of additional clay and replaced with additional crushed stone the final cost was $900.00 above original estimate. The final cost was equal to the highest original bid for the driveway work."

"Richard Bushey, of HIP Service & Solutions, is an extremely friendly and knowledgeable individual.  He performed the home inspection (and sampled for the water test) for the home my husband and I bought.  He was very professional in his dealings with us, and was prompt for appointments and follow-up calls.  During the inspection he made sure that as he completed a section he would explain his findings, as well as let us know if he expected any issues found to be minor or expensive to correct.  He even offered suggestions regarding what path we might take to achieve those corrections.  He then gave us an opportunity to ask any questions we may have.  After the inspection, he made sure that he summarized all of his findings, and provided us with a very detailed report, complete with pictures of the findings.  He made sure to also let us know that he keeps those photos, and that anytime, even years away, we should feel free to call him and he would be happy to make sure we would receive any of those photos we wanted.  I highly recommend Richard Bushey, and HIP Service & Solutions. <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Winthrop, ME

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
