Unfortunately, they were not able to close the damper they had opened. They did suggest I fill that opening with insulation rolls to keep cold air from blowing in. Mainly, I wanted to get an estimate on installing a cap that had never been added. Fortunately, they were able to install one during the visit. I am just waiting to get a receipt for that additional $180 cost."

"<p>What a great experience!  Berkeley Roofing provided excellent service from beginning to end.   Joe provided the most thorough and inclusive bid of the 4 I received.  He included important venting which the other contractors did not even mention.</p> <p>The crew arrived on time and work incredibly hard while on the site.  They cleaned up everything at the end of each day.  They started on December 22nd and finished December 24.  Ironically just as the rain started!  Because it was raining they could not do the very last task of painting the vents and pipes.  They said they would be back later to do it. "Everybody was so helpful from the office staff to the evaluator who had the utmost patience and experience. He explained everything thoroughly and helped me make the best decision for my house and budget. The job involved new 30 yr shingles and conversion of an old tar and gravel portion of the roof as well as several new skylights & new gutters + replacement of several rotten roof areas. The roofing crew and supervisor were great and job finished on schedule. They were careful w/ plants & scrubs and cleanup was excellent. Not a single problem. As a side note I had a problem w/ racoon's or possums in my attic area. I had no idea who to call so I called Scudders and they came immediately and assessed the situation and started working on it. It really wasn't a roofing issue but they repaired the side of my house and didn't charge me anything!! Who does that these days?"
