"The technician, Jay Anderson, did a superior job. Even though the job was difficult, Jay installed our system precisely with an end result that looks professional and well done. Also, Radon Environmental Inc installed a radon mitigation system at a previous home as well as our current home. Each time they did an excellent job. Mike, the owner, explained thoroughly the whole process prior to installation. After installation, Jay went over all the details of the system. I recommend Radon Environmental Inc 100%...you will be completely satisfied and happy with their installation!"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Spent nearly 5 hours walking the property and giving me detailed guidance, not only through the points of the inspection, but through understanding the hows and whys of home construction, safety, and maintenance. Answered questions, tested all appliances and HVAC, gave feedback on brands, took multiple reference photos, and compiled the formal inspection report. The in-person walk-through was an excellent education -- worth the price! I feel much more confident, not only that I have been reliably informed of specific issues on this property, but also that I have gotten a great first lesson on the mindset of an attentive and smart homeowner. I would highly recommend this service. <br />"

"Excellent and thorough inspection.  Chris helped us find some issues that could potentially be decision making in whether we buy the house or not.  He was very professional and explained, in person and on his report, every detail he was inspecting, what he was looking for, and his final assessment of what he found.  He was able to schedule us within short notice and was punctual for the session and did all of his homework ahead of time.  He provided a very detailed report the same day the inspection was completed!  He also did some follow-up with us after the inspection as we had some questions to ask.  It was easy communicating with him, especially since he was willing to do so via text messages.  I would recommend the service/provider and my agent has stated she will begin using him as well."

"Rob did a great job. He arrived 10 minutes early which was when I got there to make sure he didn't have to wait on me. I already had a pretty good idea that there wasn't anything major he would find but he did point out a number of smaller issues. He was very informative and personable. The only issue we did have was that he wasn't sure how to get the emergency heat on to test it. I can't really fault him for this with the vast number/types of thermostats on the market. The one in this home was all digital and linked to their cell service.... Yeah I'm gonna need a manual. All in all I was very pleased!"

"The service we got was great and I would recommend the company. The contractor who did the work was very professional, experienced, and informative. I had been considering an additional collection point because of our complex foundation configuration; however, the contractor advised us to try just the two points (one in the laundry room and one in the crawl)  to see how it went -- with no extra service charge if they needed to return to add another in the rec room. I am so glad we heeded his advice.  The third collection point would have been more expensive for us, and it would have been an eyesore in our rec room.  After the work, the radon level went down from an average of 7.0 -7.5 to an average of 0.5 in the rec room, and the space still looks great. We are quite satisfied. <br /> I will add a small caution about the company's' processes,  though. When we initially called to inquire about the service, we found that the company doesn't come to homes to give estimates. In the initial call, a prospective customer talks to a central sales person who estimates the cost based on the customer's description of the house and the situation. Then, they email an appointment confirmation and proposal describing the work. On the appointed day, the contractor arrives to do the work.  This way of doing business does reduce the overall cost to the customer, I am sure. However, in our case part of the total work we had done was to encapsulate the crawl space -- and the information that I got from the sales rep about what that service would entail was inaccurate. Thus, I contracted with another company to do the encapsulation. When the SWAT service person came and found the crawl space already encapsulated, he said that SWAT would have done the same job. It all turned out well, and we were happy with both companies, but the early communication with SWAT was awkward. <br />"

"It went great! I have a home where the system was not easy to install, but they stayed until it was finished. A test kit was left to see if it was working properly, but they added that they would return if our radon wasn't lowered. IT WAS!! Money very well spent"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Worthington, IN

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
