"In a professional but personable manner on the phone, Margaret made the arrangements to get the job done. Before the tech's visit, she made a follow-up phone call to remind us about the scheduled work. Mark M. did the work. His courtesy and professionalism will make him most welcome here in the future. WELL DONE, Mr. Electric!"

"Roy and his crew installed a media wall for us. It was much more a construction project than electric, but they did both beautifully and managed it very professionally, cleaning up after themselves and doing an extremely precise job. Cost was reasonable compared to other quotes. They are busy, so be prepared to wait a little on scheduling and communication. We plan to hire again!"

"These pros were absolutely amazing.Talk about "an on-time" company....for the consultation.. So, this was the third company we asked for an estimate!! We were literally blown away when they came in between $800-almost $2000 less than any of the other estimates we got. Yes, we initially were a bit apprehensive, but their Master Electrician laid it out for us, same identical configuration from our electric panel in the unfinished room to the garage for the charger installation. Of, course, why would we not hire them? They had experience with these type of installations. Parker and his guys...were always available if we had "just another"question. Yes, we hired them...and they lived up to everything. Always on time....no hiccups, no changes, just a smooth---no stress---installation. We will always go back to them, if we need electric work to be done. Highly recommend this company. We are so thankful that they got in touch with us from my request at ANGI. Thank you Parker and TEAM!!"

"Fantastic job. New panel has been working well, with no breakers tripping out or shorts in the wiring. Electrician was friendly and conducted himself in a professional manner. The job was a little rushed at the end as we tried to identify which lights and outlets were connected to each breaker. However, we were successful in identifying all of the circuits in the house, after only 1 callback to trace an unidentified wall outlet. I strongly recommend this company, and will use it again for my future electrical work."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in York-beach, ME

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
