"Jeff, Rob and his crew were exceptional They answered all of my questions even took the time to show me how things worked. They installed a water catch basin and sump pump to replace our smaller 25 year old equipment. Jeff suggested a better pump They were meticulous in their work and cleanup except for the new pump you would not even know they're there. I would recommend ONCE&DONE for any of your waterproofing needs Thank you ONCE&DONE"

"I had a wall in my basement that was filing up with water from runoff outside. The wall started leaking into my basement. The crew jackhammered a trench along the wall in my basement and installed a drainage pipe, fill and a sump pump. They cemented over the trench and it looks like they were never here. Lots of rain since then and my basement is dry. Timely and professional- highly recommend"

"From the estimate process until final product finished today, we could not be happier with BQ Initially was quoted a 2 day process to complete our Aquastop waterproofing system and sump pump replacement, Steve, Curtis, Pedro, and Josh arrived as promised at 7:30 and completed the job by 1:30. They explained the entire process and updated us throughout. They were very professional, efficient, and polite. Everything was explained about the new system and cleanup has the basement back to pre construction condition. We highly recommend BQ Basements and Concrete!"

"We were walked through the products and installation as well as the benefits of a heat pump. The install was done in one day. Very quick and efficient. We've had the units running for about a month and they are awesome. We're very happy with our decision."

"I'm retired and needed to move my disabled son and his wife into our basement to save costs. I went out to get bids in Sept. 2014 with the goal to have the 2 rooms and bathroom finished by year end. My son's apartment lease was up at the end of January 2015 and this timing would allow me one month to do the painting myself and move their things at a leisurely pace into the basement. I received 3 bids for almost the exact same price, all assuring me they could meet the end of year schedule. IPS (Fred Castro) had the best design (better materials and moving of existing plumbing to allow a nice uninterrupted ceiling). I discussed reducing the IPS price but Fred refused, saying he prided his work and wanted to do a good job. Since IPS had a better design at the same price and schedule as the other contractors, I awarded the project to Fred on Sept 15. A Dec 1 start date was in the contract and a finish date of Dec 31. Fred started the first week of December. On Dec 7, Fred adjusted his estimate to add a little to the material costs but also extended the finish date to Jan 23. This left me with only 1 week to paint and move my son in but I felt I could handle that. On Dec 21, Fred adjusted his estimate again to add a little more to the material costs and include the cost for the replacement of an existing drain line that was in bad shape. The schedule was not changed and I agreed to the change. Fred did not finish by Jan 31, so I had to move my son and his wife into a spare bedroom and put all their belongings into our garage. In early February, I asked Fred to do the painting since I would be slow doing it and I wanted to move my son ASAP. On Feb 11, Fred notified me that I would be charged $1500 for the painting. I was surprised by this since the only reason I was having him do the painting was because he did not meet the schedule but I figured we would work it out when he was done. Fred took 7 more weeks to finish the job. The final bill from IPS revealed an addition 14% increase in costs from the last estimate. Overall, excluding the $1800 for the drain line addition, this project escalated 21% in costs and the schedule went from 1 month to 4 months. Upon negotiation, Fred agreed to reduce the bill by 10. Fred did excellent work and the basement is beautiful. Fred did not take shortcuts or perform work-arounds as the other two contractors had planned and that was the reason I selected IPS. In my opinion, the 10% cost reduction is not adequate for the significant delay in the schedule and hardship this meant for my family. The delay is significant enough that I believe Fred never expected to meet the schedule and had hoped his excellent work would appease me. Fred did ask me why we were being so nice during the construction if we were upset and frankly I was surprised that he felt the schedule was not an issue. Fred was very prersonable, responsive, considerate and pleasant during the construction so I felt the final price negotiation would go well. However, Fred focused on all the good work he did and would not discuss the original estimate and schedule, essentially telling me that the schedule is unimportant as long as the work is high quality. I feel a 20-25% cost reduction is more in line with a schedule that went from 1 month to 4 months. Bottom line to me: Fred did excellent work, his cost estimating could have been a little better but his schedule estimating was either terrible or misleading. I would recommend Fred from 1) quick jobs or 2) larger jobs when scheduling is not an issue.

"While the plumber himself is professional, informative and knowledgeable, I had to leave several voice messages, send email, and ultimately contact him through the Angie's List messages to get a response when some items needed a return visit.
I purchased a deal from Angie's List, but never received any breakdown of the costs of actual repairs, so I am left to assume that what they did exactly covered the cost I had pre-paid.
I purchased parts & materials (faucets, sprayers, handles, etc) myself ahead of time since it is often problematic when working in an older (19th century) house.
An assistant replaced the kitchen faucet & sprayer, but I had to have them return to take care of one handle which came loose within the first few days of use.  The pop up in the downstairs bathroom sink that was replaced no longer works. I didn't realize until after they left that the faucet and handles I'd selected that were put on the upstairs bathroom sink render the pop up useless, so the drain is always open. The trap in the kitchen is fine, as is the basement shut off valve. I had also previously had them replace the outside faucet at the barn/garage and that worked well throughout the summer (another Angie's List deal.)
I was upset that, while installing the upstairs sink faucet and handles, that they didn't notice that the shut off valve was not completely turned off. Hence, when I went downstairs, I found water pouring out of the ceiling in the kitchen. I quickly told them & they shut it properly. Perhaps I am expecting too much, but I would have thought that they would take some responsibility since it was their error  that left 4 saturated ceiling tiles sagging and dripping onto the kitchen floor and island. Instead I was told to simply let them dry. I ended up spraying bleach above them, & propping them up with clothes poles for a full week as they slowly dried. They are still obviously lower than the surrounding tiles.

I've been an electrician for nearly 10 years and I'm an owner-operated company based out of Quakertown. There is no job too small for me. A handful of jobs I take care of are outlets, switches, lights, ceiling, bath, and attic fans, electric car chargers, underground electric for outbuildings, electrical panels, service upgrades, troubleshooting and more.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Breinigsville, PA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
