"During the Covid crisis we hired Dan and his crew to repaint a bedroom and an armoire. They came in with shoe coverings and masks. They took all the necessary precautions with germs while in my home. The room they painted was a very dark magenta and they repainted it a beige color and it looks great! I was worried that it would be very difficult to cover. We also had a stained dark brown armoire which they repainted gray for me, it completely updated the look and saved me some money! Pricing for project was completely fair and they do quality work. Highly recommend!"

I'm very experienced in remodeling homes. I came up in the business as a young boy following behind a general contractor and architect my father. I'm a native of North Carolina so I know the rules and the ends and out of this business. I'm very reliable I communicate very well with my customer. "I provided top grade Sherwin Williams paint. The painter used the semigloss intended for the windows, baseboards and trim on the ceiling. Then put flat on the other surfaces. The wall trim had to be redone and another coat to the walls. I had to purchase another $78 of paint for the painter to use. He did not understand English so I was wondering if this was really James Painting or someone contracted out. The check was written to Santiago Echeverria. They got paint on my very expensive Kincaid four poster bed. When I called to let them know, the female was rude and yelled "What do you want?". They were upset they had to come back and fix everything the next day. He only came back. I was kind and even gave him $100 more for coming out a second day. These were not professional painters. I know, my husband was one before he had a double lung transplant. He had to explain that inside of door frames had to be painted, and that flat paint was on everything, not semigloss. No, I would not recommend James Painting to anyone."

"Mike was very professional from the first phone call. He came that evening when he said he would to give us a estimate.
We originally called for a estimate on staining our fence front and back and after talking with Mike we also asked him to pressure wash the house. He came when he said he would and did everything we asked, he even went the extra mile and stained our yard swing the same color as the fence.
We were so happy with the job he did on the fence we then asked him to stain our deck, we had tried to stain it on our own last year and had really made a mess. He had to work really hard to get the stain off but he did a great job and our deck looks so good.
It was a pleasure to work with Mike and we are very pleased with the work he did and will definitely use him again. He is prompt and does a high quality job. Our fence and deck look great and we have received compliments from friends and neighbors, we highly recommend him.

"Overall, I graded the job a C because the finished product is a C.

 The leader of the crew that did the work told me that I had purchased two men for 6-8 hours, and that he was contracted by Cobalt to perform the work, that he did not work for Cobalt.   There was not mention of 6-8 hours in the posting, and I was immediately feeling uncomfortable about what exactly I had purchased.  I bought a crew of "painters", not the support and oversight of a professional painting company.
We had scheduled the work a week in advance, and the day of the job, there was rain in the forecast.  I suggested we re-schedule, but was told that he was booked for at least the next week, and that it was not raining now, and "why don't we get started."

In advance, I was told to get a gallon of paint, and a gallon of thinner.   I assumed the paint would be brushed or rolled.   Was not told that I would also need to provide masking suppliers and several gallons paint.  I did buy a few drop clothes, and had a few rolls of masking tape, but was not prepared for masking to spray.  So, let the painters use 6 mil poly to mask, and had a giant amount of trash in front of my house when done.  (Could have been neatly rolled up, but that would have taken extra time, and was made worse because one of the painters lost his phone and thought it might be in side the plastic wrap).

The rain came about 1/3 of the way through the paining.  They came back the next day to finish, and "sort of" addressed water issues by repainting.  There was a serious hurry to get done and on to the next job, so there were a lot of missed spots.  There should have been two coats applied.  They came back a few weeks later to repaint the missed spots, and the job is complete.  The quality is okay, but well below the original paint job, and would definitely not impress anyone. The ironic part.. I had a quote to have the work done, for $50 less than the Angie's list deal.   I thought that I would get more for my 16 hours of work, but did not.  I did not like the pay before the work is done and hope it gets done right."

Our shutters were ready before we were as we were in the process of painting and remodeling. They patiently waited until we were ready for installation. Installation took about an hour and they look beautiful! Ended up ordering more for other rooms and I can’t wait for them to be ready! Highly recommend JTC."
