"My garbage disposal went out. I called multiple plumbers. Rema, the owner, responded immediately on a Saturday. He serviced my garbage disposal the next day, a Sunday, and did not charge an emergency fee. Rema arrived on time, very professional, and friendly, I would highly recommend Rema of Remedy plumbing."

"They were excellent! I called while at work and they arrived at my house within five minutes. They explained everything to my mom, who was home, and called me to verify what was needed for the repair. The repair on took only 5 minutes. A few months ago, we had another company fix the toilet. Apparently they did not properly install it and it cause a slow leak. What impressed me is that Cipriano could have really charged a lot and over sold what needed to be done but they did not. They fixed the leak. They were honest, knowledgeable, courteous, quick, and really nice people. I would hire them again and plan to for future projects."

"They are very informed about systems throughout the house and are active educators for their clients for MAINTENANCE and saving money! The family owned business is impressive, as their son is ALREADY a JOURNEYMAN in both plumbing and I believe soon to be HVAC expert as well. They are serious about their knowledge and offerings. - Erin Fussell"

"here. When I found out my countertop installer wouldn't disconnect the plumbing I had to quickly find a plumber willing to make the two trips to my home in sync with the countertop installers. He came over and gave me an estimate and waive fee once I agreed to use his services. He came before the installer got here, removed and discarded my old garbage disposal and disconnected the plumbing so the countertop could be replaced. Then told me to call once the countertop was in and he'd be right over and he was! He replaced the garbage disposal and redirected my dishwasher from the sink's countertop air gap to the garbage disposal. He was quick and organized. He also diagnosed the problem with my toilet and I will be using him to fix it once the parts are here. <br />"

"Great! I got four estimates on a new gas water heater, and David's was the second lowest. Even with installation of the kitchen faucet, the total price was about $200 less than the highest priced plumbing company for water heater alone! I paid extra to have an optional pan under the water heater with PVC drain line into my sump pump - just extra "insurance" and peace of mind in case the water heater ever has a catastrophic leak, since it is next to the finished part of our basement."

"My residence had bathroom and kitchen fixtures that were many years old and some of them were rusting or leaking. A Mallick Plumber, Mr. Eddie Skadid did all the plumbing replacement. He and his work are excellent. He was very punctual and took the time to thoroughly and patiently explain cost, options and the expected time to complete all of the work. He explained each replacement/repair when each was completed. He is very friendly, honest, and did a good cleanup of all the areas where he performed work. Additionally, he also came back a day later for no charge to fix a minor issue that was the original home builders' mistake. I would definitely use Mr. Skadid again if he is available."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Capitol Heights, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
