"We have used Daniel Bullard previously and when he remodeled our master bathroom he did great work. On Christmas Eve a pipe burst and caused water damage. One room, a closet and flooring in multiple rooms had to be replaced. The flooring is a huge issue with my complaint. Originally we were going to do simple peel and stick vinyl planks like we did in our living room. For whatever reason they could not get them to stick so we have Daniel the authority to choose flooring that fell into the insurance company budget. He chose a click and lock laminate flooring that had a residential lifetime warranty. When installing this floor the planks are supposed to be staggered and trim is supposed to be installed to keep the flooring nice and tight with no wiggle room. We noticed almost immediately that in one area there were a few boards not laying flat. He came out and fixed it and when he did he didn't stagger the boards. The repairs were complete the end of February 2023. By June 2023 we noticed that the flooring was shifting and contacted Daniel (the owner). He said he would work with us on the labor to replace it. We contacted him again and asked him to come and see how bad it really was. He came out in July and said that he made a mistake in installation and he would cover the labor and half of the materials. He stated this in front of myself and my mother. We agreed even though we felt he should pay for it all as he installed it wrong causing it to break and our new floors needed to be replaced less than han 6 months after installation. We saved money to cover our half of materials. He had a family medical crisis so he chose November 13, 2023 for install. We repeatedly texted asking how he would like to do the material, we pay upfront for it all and then he would pay us the half or he pick up and pay and we reimburse. That's when he changed it to he was not covering any material. We reluctantly agreed so we could fix the now falling apart floor. Before 11/13/23 we texted multiple times asking what time to expect him. No answer. Finally that day he said I can have someone there on the 15th to start. He forgot to put us on the schedule. On the 15th he and 2 of his subcontractors arrived late dropped the material off and left said they would be here between 8 and 9 the next morning. They showed at 2:30 to remove the damaged floor. Then they left. Returned Friday and his subcontractors did an amazing job. Daniel however is someone you need to get everything in writing because he went back on his word about paying half, he should have paid for it all because he improperly installed it or we wouldn't have needed to replace it again so fast. We spent over $1200 between materials and having to stay in a hotel for a night because we couldn't access half our house, not including ordering out because our fridge and stove were in our living room. Very, very unhappy. We should not have had to spend this money a second time in less than a year. A good contractor stands behind their work and he didn't. I have photos of the bad install in anyone wants them."

"In August 2022, after hearing about DFW Improved on a home improvement radio show, we entered into two contracts with them for a roof replacement and interior water damage repair. These contracts were based on insurance-approved scopes following the 2021 ice storm. DFW Improved began the roof replacement project first. Following the replacement, the roof continued to leak due to their failure to replace the flashings. Despite corresponding work items in the insurance scope (confirmed later by the insurance adjuster's email), the DFW Improved salesperson insisted that flashing was not part of the roof. He threatened legal action if further payment was not made. Prior to this, they presented two identical model shingles as choices, which their own roof subcontractor on-site disclosed. Upon our inquiry via email, instead of addressing the issue, the salesperson accused us of defaming their company. Furthermore, they quoted $900 for a non-existent siding hole and estimated $25,000 for a bookcase, which their own designer valued at $6,000 to $7,000. While the roof leaking issue was still unresolved, DFW Improved began interior work. Instead of submitting the agreed supplement request as agreed, they skipped necessary steps to cut water-damaged drywall. To prevent wasted effort, we instructed workers to stop. The salesperson responded, stating that workers would not proceed with any work not approved by insurance. However, he emailed the insurance company claiming that the work had already been completed, causing significant confusion for us. During the halt period, we sent out numerous issues such as broken air pipes, cracked roof rafters, missing insulation, roof holes, missing felt paper, and a leaking roof. However, we received no response other than prevaricate explanations and demanding for money. We escalated to the DFW Improved upper manager who responded that they are their best team members and disregarded our request for an alternative project team. DFW Improved abandoned the projects and warranties, and initiated separation in December 2022. Both parties engaged in negotiations over separation costs. During this process, DFW Improved unexpectedly sent four individuals to our house, claiming to inspect texture work and demanding payment. Subsequently, DFW Improved placed a lien on our house, and their lawyer sent a demanding letter stating they would auction our house and (quote)“sue Vigorously” if payment was not made, despite the mediation/arbitration clause clearly outlined in the contracts. Under this pressure, we filed a claim in Tarrant County Small Claims Court, where the lien was placed. Later, their lawyer filed a motion to transfer the case to Collin County, where DFW Improved is based. We refused to comply with a demand for $5,000 and the confidentiality requirement during mediation. DFW Improved filed a new case simultaneously in the higher Tarrant County District Court, demanding a new amount of $59,845 and seeking to enforce the lien, providing no explanation for this amount. According to their co-owner's email, their accounting book calculated that we owed them a total of $1,260 (detailed below). During pre-mediation discussions, their lawyer attempted to justify their request for $8k, citing that a significant portion was allocated to attorneys' fees. We did not engage their lawyer to send us a threatening letter containing false statements about suing us without mediation. Their lawyer also declined $65 public mediator service provided by the Tarrant Small Claims Court. Additionally, they unilaterally escalated the dispute to a higher court. We have never been late with their payments. In fact, DFW Improved made a math error by crediting the blind work twice. When we brought this to their attention, DFW Improved spent extra time correcting the invoice, and their salesperson initiated an internal investigation. Any delay was certainly not caused by us. DFW Improved filed a lien attempting to collect the costs again, despite already receiving payment. See the invoice they submitted, which completely overlooks the $35,895.76 payment we made (supported by our bank transactions). —-------------The payment schedule on the contract has major math errors—--------- Payments for the work are due as follows: Contract Total $ 194,972.33 $ 19,497.23 deposit is due at initial design meeting.(10% of the Contract Total) 20% of the Contract Total is due at the preconstruction meeting. 30% of the Contract Total is due at start of drywall repair. ←– we requested halt at this phase and according to texas property code Sec. 28.003. We are uncertain about the extent and duration of the legal battle DFW Improved and their lawyer will continue to pursue. It has been nearly two years. Instead of assisting us with the aftermath of a natural disaster, DFW Improved attempted to extort money from us and our insurance provider. Despite our efforts to settle amicably, they persist in prolonging and escalating the dispute. This inci"

"I have used Craftsman Connection for my business for years (building home theaters for my customers). I recently purchased a 40 year old home in Dallas desperately needing a master bathroom remodel. Here is what I have to say about Carl - you will not find anyone with more professionalism, pride in his work, true quality work with zero shortcuts. He plans out and budgets his estimate in much detail so you know exactly what you will be getting. He goes over all the details in advance so you know the finer details of quality home construction and remodeling. He will go over the top to please his customers and it shows. I have used other contractors in the past, and when the work was done, I could see always see flaws in either the design or execution of the project. With Carl's work in our master bathroom, I walk in and take pride is seeing a job perfectly done. I won't use any other contractor for my personal home or business."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Cedar Hill, TX

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
