"We have used Hayes Plumbing for over 15 years. Jim, Linda's dad, and Linda did a new water line for us.  They volunteered on a Habitat For Humanity House we were involved with. <br /> Hayes Plumbing has installed a faucet, fixed my leaky shower, re-plumbed my house including new waste lines, installed a new gas line at a different house for us. Most recently help us out with a bad floor drain. <br /> They have done work for folks on my block and for my friends. I have never heard anything but good things about them.  They are prompt, professional and experienced. They provided advice and alternatives, which have saved us money both in the short and long term. <br />"

"Great! The plumber called prior to arriving and was courteous while at my home. He analyzed the problem and gave a quote to fix. I agreed to it and then he went to work - he had the parts needed on his truck and was done within 30-45 minutes. Really nice and provided answers to my questions. I would definitely call again for any plumbing issues."

"Originally they thought they would have to open up the wall in our living room (we had just remodeled it a few months earlier, and did not look forward to that. However, after removing the upstairs sink/vanity and opening that area, they found a way to run the new lines without opening the living room wall. They did have to open the main floor wall behind the stove. Pete and Anthony were the two servicemen and both were very professional and friendly. It was pretty much an all day job, but the results were great with minimal tear out. Since they are plumbers, they do not do the drywall or flooring work needed to put things back.( We are using Angie's list for that also. We would definitely recommend and use Easreday again. Kudos to Pete and Anthony for a great job. BTW, they came in at the low estimate, we are happy cam pets! <br />"

"We were having issues and called Ridings to come out. They diagnosed the problem as a broken septic line and gave us an estimate. Some months later the problems escalated and we contacted them again. They came out once again and gave us the bad news of a disintegrating pipe. They advised us that they had other jobs ahead of us. But within two weeks they were back and had put us ahead of others due to the seriousness of the situation. They completed the job in 22 degree weather, cleaned up the whole mess, and were gone before we got home from work. These are top notch. We were totally in shock as we thought this would take multiple days. Thanks Ridings for the great work! We would definitely recommend them to anyone."

"Bill and Josh were both very knowledgeable and detail oriented. They explained what they would be doing, kept us informed with updates. They were polite and open to any questions we had. Their work was exactly what we expected and was done in the timeframe they proposed. I would recommend J.B. Home Improvement to anyone. We were extremely satisfied."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Chatham, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
