"So Nir and Alexander just left my property. They installed two new Chimney Chases. My entire experience with Chimney Sweep Clean has been absolutely marvelous. Initially when I found Nir on a recommendation by a friend, he answered politely and was at my property the next day. A fair estimate was given and I had to wait two weeks for the custom made chases. Remarkably the Chases were made in only a week, he called me and was there the next day and they were installed. Amazing!!! The cleanliness and professionalism with which Nir runs his business is really remarkable. The new custom made chases look great. As well during the installation process he took pictures step by step so he could explain it to me. You just don't find companies who operate like this much anymore. I would wholeheartedly recommend Nir and Alexander from Chimney Sweep Clean for any chimney problem you may have. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!"

"We are planning to install vent-free gas logs in our two wood burning fireplaces so we could have heat during power outages and for the warmth and ambiance. I called three of the fireplace installers from Angie's List based on customer reviews for estimates. Two of the fireplace companies suggested that I have both chimneys cleaned and inspected before doing the gas log installation. Even though the gas logs are natural gas and vent-free and would not need the damper to be opened so do not need a working chimney for the gas logs, we had never had the chimneys inspected or cleaned since we moved in 6 years ago. So we thought that was a good idea to get it done once and then we don't have to have it done again unless there is a problem.
Steve the Fire Place Guy suggested that I call MCP Chimney & Masonry. He said that he had worked with them before and they are very good. I looked on Angie's List to see the reviews and there were only 4 reviews with an average of B overall rating. I was a little skeptical but Steve told me that they would be up front with me and would not try to sell something I do not need so I scheduled an appointment.
Tammy is really very friendly and helpful. She told me that an inspection and cleaning is $159 per chimney. I had seen somewhere else where it costs between $99-$229 but I think the $99 is for either the inspection or cleaning but not for both and the high end prices included other cleaning such as dryer vent. Anyway, I went ahead and scheduled the inspection and cleaning with Tammy.
Brandon and Jose arrived within the scheduled time window. They put the tarp down on my beige carpet and began to clean each chimney from the bottom to top method from inside the house. After they were done, there was not a bit of dust or soot from the chimney. Brandon had vacuum all that into his vacuum inside the fireplace before it could get out into the room. My fireplace, mantel, and beige carpet were still clean.
Then they went on the roof to do the inspection. Brandon came down with pictures of the crowns that he took with his phone and he also brought down a few pieces of the concrete crown from one of the chimneys. He said that one of the chimney looked like it was the original crown when the house was built 29 years ago and never been replaced or repaired. The concrete was separating from the crown and loosely sitting or dangling from the edge and he was able to bring a few pieces down to show me. The other crown looked like it was repaired previously but not done very well or professionally, Someone that the previous owner has hired used concrete fillers in the cracks of the crown and now has more cracks and some separation. Brandon recommends that I get the repair done especially since our chimneys showed no signs of internal water damage. If there were water damage, it could damage the liner or weaken the integrity of the bricks in the chimney and if left it is not repaired overtime the chimney may need to be replaced which could run about $6,000 or higher.
Brandon recommended that we repair both crowns with the poxy compound which has a 20 year warranty. It is put on over the concrete creating a cover. I had seen this done with our neighbor's crown so I had an idea of what he is talking about. He said to use concrete to repair the crown will only have a 2 year warranty so of course I went with the compound. The cost for the repair was $600 for both crowns but Brandon gave me a 15% discount making the repair cost $520 and the total for cleaning, inspecting and repairs to $838. I guess I am happy with that since I have no idea what the average costs would be.
So I scheduled the repair with Tammy for the following week. They came out and did the job and as far as I know everything seems fine (it is not like I am going to climb on a ladder on the roof to check). So far so good and I am happy with the staff and work. Usually, since I am the one in the household that calls for repairs or maintenance I would be the one companies would be talking with. Some male representatives have a tendency to think since I am a female I may not understand or need to know how or what the job entails so they do not bother to fully explain things to me or ask to speak with my husband. Good luck with that, my husband do not want to be bother and he would say talk with my wife. So if you do not want to talk with me...Good bye, you are not getting the job. Brandon was completely opposite and took the time to explain all the aspect of the job and why. He was absolutely wonderful and so was Tammy in the office. I would definitely call them again and since they do masonry work, I may have projects for them in the future. So as long as this repair job continues to be problem free, I would definitely recommend them and I would ask for Brandon Morris."

"We scheduled 2 Hats Chimneys for November 18. Dave was prompt and professional. We were very pleased with Dave's knowledge and he inspected the chimney and resolved our immediate concerns. The work was completed the same day and Dave advised that we would want to consider two additional improvements for the chimney at some future date. We will definitely call on Dave in the future for any chimney concerns."

"Thought I needed a new throat damper since it would not stay closed. Technician found it was not broken and did not need repair, just lubrication. They use top dampers and do not replace throat dampers, but I would have explored the replacement if necessary. Also got price for refractory panel replacement, which I will need in the future. Technician was prompt, courteous and honest about the needed repairs. I do not need the panel replacement right away since the cracks were small and the fireplace is used very little. I repaired with masonry cement for the short term, but I will call them when needed for the repair. The estimate was not the cheapest. I had it looked at earlier in the year with a chimney cleaning, but honesty sometimes means more than price. I will use them in the future for any cleaning or repair work."

"All Pro Chimney was referred to me through one of my contractors for a very complicated gas fireplace installation. Even though I hadn't purchased my fireplace from them, they took on this intensive project when others wouldn't. The team did such an amazing job - everything from the research prior to the quote, the detailed quote, the exactitude of the project management, the way they kept my house clean, and follow-up after the installation - all made for such a great experience. Afterward, I had them replace another fireplace in my home, and they were even able to repair and revive a very old fireplace on our 3rd floor. We are just so pleased with the entire team. They also care about the development of their employees - for the first, intricate installation, the senior leader brought more junior team members to assist with the installation so they could learn. That shows that they invest in their team for the long-haul. I was so impressed, I signed up for a 3-year service contract for not only the fireplaces but also my dryer vents. Thank you, All Pro! "The company came out within a few days of my call. Mark T inspected and cleaned the chimney (which wasn't that dirty, as it turned out), and took pictures of the metal stack and the exterior of the fireplace stack. They recommended replacing the 4 refractory panels for approximately $1800. They pointed out warping on the metal stack, which he said might not be an immediate problem but would need to be addressed at some point as it would just continue to get worse. He also said that the chase cover at the top, exterior of the fireplace stack should be replaced. I got a second and third opinion. Both those providers said that the refractory panels are cosmetic only since the entire firebox is metal, and that the price would probably be about $400, not $1800. They also looked at the photos provided by Complete Chimney, and said that the 'warping' that Mark T pointed out was not warping...just normal coloration of the stack and not an issue. They said the chase cover was rusting, but not falling apart and was not any kind of safety hazard. while this company did the initial cleaning I requested, I feel like they were trying to push me to see problems where none existed in the hope that I would have them install a new gas fireplace."

"We highly recommend The Home Wise Pros Roofing company. Needing a new roof, we had conducted interviews and had obtained estimates from roofers, and then went with Home Wise Pros. The estimate we received was competitive, and we were impressed with the knowledge and experience of Jay, the owner (30 years in the home improvement industry and over a decade running his own company, and he is Shingle Master-certified). Also, the referral from our brother-in-law had been very positive. When rain that was predicted for many days threatened to derail our scheduled rooting job (mid-January), Jay moved the work up a week early to avoid delays. The start time each day was 7:30 a.m. The crane workers delivering all of the shingles and other materials were punctual to the minute, and the crew members actually arrived prior to 7:30 to prepare equipment and items. With January having short daylight hours, they did cleanup work even after dark, using headlamps and lights. Jay communicated with us constantly about all matters, starting with his initial detailed presentation in our home, and throughout the job. He was hands-on on the scene for a good part of the time, checking on the work, and he exhibited great attention to detail. His roofing supervisor was warm, friendly, and accommodating. All of the crew members were diligent and did very careful work. The cleanup afterward was extremely thorough. The additional installation of two new skylight windows, supervised by Jay, went perfectly, and our new roof looks beautiful. The process from start to finish was excellent, and we recommend the company wholeheartedly."
