"I was in need of my fenced replaced and was able to get a quote in a professional and timely matter. Their crew came out and took down my current fence, took all the debris, and put up the new fence without any problems. They were able to answer all my questions and it was a good from the beginning till the end."

"We ended up with a very nice fence for a good price. Installation was delayed several times, but we weren't in a hurry. But, there were serious communication issues between different members of the staff that caused several problems. I was (apologetically) informed at the very last minute when the first crew would be there. They worked quickly and cleanly to remove our old fence and install the new posts, and did everything we asked. We were NOT informed when the next crew was coming to do the framing. I received a call from Fred while I was at work letting me know they had gone with the grade instead of stair stepped, and that it would be fixed. However, the framer had already trimmed down all the posts, including at the gate, where we were supposed to have a trellis. When the next crew came out to finish the fence, I talked to them that morning, and specifically talked about the trellis. He asked if it was going to be ok that the trellis would be that low, since the post was already cut, which was really annoying, as it was their fault that the post was cut down. He also questioned our choice of gate in the back, which was again, annoying. Looked like he was 20 years old. Really, the posts probably should have been ripped out and replaced. When I came home that day, I had a beautiful fence... and no trellis. No explanation or communication about it. Just not there. They had to come back, a few weeks later because of multiple delays, and install a trellis, which had the posts bolted on to the existing post. They had also installed the gate latch on the outside of the gate, which I asked them to fix, since that doesn't make sense, and they forgot to do that. There was one person on the office staff that always knew what was going on and was very helpful. There was another, however, that constantly gave me the wrong information and responded very slowly if at all. The positives: -Great craftsmanship, fence is beautiful and provides full privacy. My neighbor is very happy with it as well. -No money upfront. When the trellis issue came up, the helpful office person told me not to pay the bill until it was fixed -When I was told when the crews would be there, they were punctual, which was great since I was leaving for work late to meet with them. They were willing to meet me rather early to accommodate that. -Fred let me know right away about the framing mistake and made sure it was fixed -The price was very reasonable, lower than other estimates. Despite all the issues, I would hire them again. I don't think my experience was typical, I think I was just unlucky and hit them at a very busy time. I used to work in landscaping, so I understand the issues that arise. In the end, I'm very happy with the fence. I meant to call them in February to beat the rush, but time got away from me. I would recommend getting your estimate well before spring."

"It went very well.  In fact, the weather was so poor, I was surprised at how he was able to finish it in the time frame he did.  As I said it was a very complicated area.  He was putting up a fence in an area covered in brush and trees which had been fenced with field fencing.  The area covered was approximately 90 feet.    Along with his nephew, he devised creative ways to fence without having to take any trees down or prune any as I wanted them all saved. <br />"

"It went well. The two men doing the work were polite. They removed the old fence, including the posts and associated cement (part of the bid process). The post holes were dug and the posts installed in one day. The fencing went up two days later, and it was done quickly. The fence looks very nice; the boards have knots, but it appears they are all tight. I was very happy with the speed and quality of work. There were no gates in the portion I agreed to pay for, so the cost represents the TOTAL cost of the fence between the houses without any gates."

"Bottom line was the process and experience was good; bid price was horrible. Lamont Bros, who I've worked with before a couple years ago, were again prompt and professional. I know they do impeccable work which is why I contacted them. Both Daniel and Joseph were personable, professional and informative. They spent appropriate time surveying the chimney and attic, taking measurements, and explaining options and process. It was enjoyable. They asked what I wanted to budget [as low as possible! :)] and I said $20-25k knowing it was very low but with a budget in my head of about $35K to $40k. They said 20-25k wasn't really reasonable and said just a bathroom generally runs about 20K (which I've also heard from numerous contractors and friends who have had the work done) and that what we were talking about would probably be around 40K, depending on finishes. So I was expecting something in that ballpark. Instead, the bid was $90k to $115k. More than twice what was discussed and what I had budgeted in my head. I am friends with architects and engineers. my family knows contractors. I work for the City of Portland and discuss remodels, new houses, and other construction projects all day long. Some of our good friends just had a top tier contractor do a large remodel that included removing the wall between dining room and kitchen in a classic foursquare house, installing new support beams, putting in new high end hardwood floors on first floor (1000sf), remodeling and reconfiguring first floor bathroom in order to install a new exterior door from kitchen to back of house and building a second story deck that door opened out onto that deck - all for approximately $50k. All this to say the bid was extremely high. I get that our housing market is crazy and the cost of construction is expensive and increasing. Contractors have their choice of jobs and as such can price accordingly. And sure, there is an opportunity cost to taking on a specific job over others. But a bid of $90k-$115K seems like price gouging and taking extreme advantage of the current construction climate. I can only take it as a way of saying they'd rather do other, larger jobs for wealthy clients who don't have concerns about costs."

"Rick and his son Branden were punctual, friendly hard workers. They happily go the extra mile to get the job done and then some. My dock project turned out to be much more time consuming than either of us imagined and they kept at it with a smile!"

"I initially hired Eric's Quality Building to replace my fence that was falling down. When I discovered that they also did siding, I asked for a quote to replace the rotting and cracked siding on my manufactured home. Eric gave me a more than fair deal on the entire project. For slightly more than what larger companies quoted to replace the siding only on the house (with vinyl), I ended up with a new cedar fence, all new fiber/cement siding (with fresh paint) on both the house and garage, all new windows on the house, all new gutters, new skirting, and new front door. Eric and his crew were friendly and respectful. They worked hard and did a fantastic job. Eric kept me up-to-date on what was happening when, if they ran into any snags or surprises, and made sound recommendations. He rearranged his schedule to accommodate my last minute request to add new windows. This was my first foray into the world of home improvement and I've heard/read horror stories of sleazy, underhanded contractors, so I was wary when I started this project. My experience was just the opposite. Eric is refreshingly honest and ethical. He takes pride in the quality of his company's work, and cares about the client's happiness with the finished product. The new fence is beautiful; the house looks fresh and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Eric's Quality Building for whatever home improvement project you may have."

"Duane came out to do the initial bidding.  Casey was our Site Manager.  Jimmy did the inside work; and they subcontracted out the fence installation.  Cathy of 3R's is their fencing specialist. <br /> Across the board, 3R's met and exceeded my expectations.  Every person I worked with, including the subcontracted fence crew, was pleasant, VERY hard working, thoroughly professional (including highly skilled in their specialty), and very willing to do what was asked of them. <br /> One tiny communication snafu:  it took more than one day to install the fence.  We had the fence put in to coral our small dog and keep her safe.  Before the gates went on (2nd visit), we walked her in the yard and there was small amount of metal debris.  Having not worked with a contractor in this way previously, "I" did not understand that until the project was finished, our yard was considered a "construction site".  Even as I adjusted my mind to this, Cathy had a crew member come out and police the yard for metal debris so our munchy little dog would be safe and not ingest metal pieces. <br /> When the posts were going in for the fence, one small piece of the sprinkler system was knicked and needed repair.  Even before I became aware of these events (about half an hour), our site manager, Casey, was already on site (here, outside in his truck), hunting down a plumber to come out and make the repair.  I don't know how he did it (magic?), but by about 5 p.m. on the eve of the Memorial Day weekend, Casey had a plumber out here and all was well.  This level of proactive response, and before I even knew something had happened, is, quite frankly, amazing!  3R's is super lucky to have Casey in their employ. <br /> Jimmy....omgosh a beastly contracting machine!  Even when I offered that he should break for lunch or rest, ever smiling, he absolutely *blazed* through every task inside the house.  He picked up and brought a security screen door I had ordered, and Casey sourced a matching set of door locks for me (items not available through local Home Depot or other sources).  Among other things, Jimmy installed a safety bar in my shower.  He was concerned that the bar might ultimately rip out due to the design of the shower enclosure.  We discussed it, and Jimmy spoke with Casey *and* a plumber to ensure that the install was do-able, and would hold over time.  Thorough-ness, personified. <br /> I would totally use 3R's again.  On budget.  On time.  Professional; pleasant to work with beyond "general" professionalism.  I am a perfectionist and generally do not lavish praise, but these folks totally deserve it.  If they are booked out, they are worth the wait.  Not the cheapest, but fair and very high quality work. <br /> <br />"
