"Wayne from FDS Installers Inc is the best! We are so happy with the work he did for us. He installed Pergo in five rooms, porcelain tile on the bathroom floor, installed new toilet, vanity, kitchen sink and appliances, on time and on budget. There was not one thing we asked for that he didn't take care of for us and above and beyond. If you need work done in your home, FDS Installers is definitely the company to call! Thank you, Wayne, for an excellent job done."

"Fixed the shut off valve right away. I asked Steve to replace the outdoor spigots (front and back yard). Done very efficiently. No mess, no fuss, no “lollygagging.” Everything explained. Cost was great. Durfee will be the first number I call in the future. Thank you Steve for the great work. Thank you Angie’s List for being such a great resource."

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"This is a complicated story, and I had held my tongue until today. We looked at 6 HVAC contractors, telling all that we live in NJ and that we wanted to use MassSave. We had a huge job to convert our house, and cottage and needed to take advantage of the 0% for 7 years after renovating both units extensively. All said NO PROBLEM, We picked Harwichport (not the least expensive) because of their best solutions for our older home. We were in the process of applying for MassSave when we got a call in May asking if they could start the work right away as they had a cancellation and had guys standing around with nothing to do. I heard my husband tell them that we hadn't done the MassSave Loan and they replied that it wasn't an issue and that everyone qualifies. They began work in May on the equipment (not electrical), and I will state that the work we received was high quality, with knowledgeable guys who worked at property for 2-1/2 days. We then finalized the MassSave paperwork only to find out that if you live out-of-state we did not qualify. No one at Harwichport seemed to know that and could have cared less, and now we were on the hook for $22K immediately, and they would not finish the electrical until we paid them. It was a royal fight and the first week of July, with renters already in our home they finally did the work after we borrowed emergency money (as much as we could). We were not happy with the situation and they were very condescending to us demanding money and with attitude. Fast forward and we have paid in full, but have discovered since that they never put a vent in the basement area as was on the work order (a service call fixed that), and that they failed to seal a vent to the second floor bathroom now that we had a separate unit (I had to fix myself as the room was freezing and the bedroom below was getting almost no flow). Tonight it was cold and I turned the heat on and got cold air! We called service and the technician came quickly, but then informed us that the gas line was never hooked up to the furnace! This is totally unacceptable!!!!! We just happened to be here. We have renters this Saturday - what if they needed heat and they got the cold air!???! I had calmed down from the rest of the problems and was going to write a decent review, but here I am now to warn others. The "C" rating on quality reflects the found problems noted above, and the "D" for punctuality reflects their not doing our electrical until we had renters already on the property (2 service calls were responded to very promptly, but the install issue outweighs the overall rating. Beware - I don't think that there is a good line of communication at Harwichport, and the consumer suffers as a result. I would not make a recommendation based on our experience. For $22K you expect a complete and accurate job!"

"Jaime came to the house to review the job and quote. He gave great advice on the projects I was considering and helped me decide that I truly only needed to love forward with the furnace and inline water heater. He took on the paperwork for the MassSave program and set up the project quickly. The guys who did the work were efficient and came back quickly to tweak one component that needed some adjustment. Overall really happy with the process start to finish. Thanks ARS"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Edgartown, MA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
