"Very well despite supplier delays and backorders. Mr. Tomas installed temporary counters so I could have a working kitchen understanding my desire to wait for original design, which then stayed in endless backorder. Al;though I had to finally move forward the final result is beautiful and I could not be happier. His craftsmanship on cherry handmade floating shelves, brackets, and banquette bench is excellent. I recommend this firm highly."

"I had a great experience with Glen Burnie Roofing to replace my roof. They were responsive to emails and phone calls. The estimate process was straightforward and transparent, with Mike answer all my questions clearly. Their prices were reasonable and competitive. Overall, I found working with Glen Burnie Roofing, especially Mike, to be a smooth and easy process for a pretty typical roof replacement."

"This is the third time that I have used Horizon Roofing and I could not be happier.  Ken is extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with.  The work was completed professionally, the pricing was quite reasonable, the installers were very pleasant and everything was cleaned up perfectly.  Ken addressed any concerns promptly and the completed work is top notch.  I will continue to use Horizon for any roofing needs and I recommend them with no reservations. <br />"

"Mike was prompt and courteous, responded quickly to a leak in my roof and his fee was very reasonable for that and another repair requiring soffit work. He fit me in between jobs which not many contractors will do for a small job."

"<p> </p> <p>Our roof was damaged due to a hail storm.  Randy Spect from ReBuid, Inc.  came highly recommended, and I have since highly recommended him to others.  One of ReBuild?s services that impressed me was their expertise in working with insurance companies in handling damage claims.  They are a local company, have been in business for years, are professional, provide good service, and are very punctual.</p> <p> </p> <p>  </p> <p> </p> <p>Randy Spect quickly returned all calls.  He not only helped us with the roof installation process but also helped us through the insurance claim process.  He inspected our roof to assess the damage, then met with the insurance claims adjuster during their inspection of our roof to make sure all of the damages were included in the claim. He also coordinated with the insurance company in processing the claim. After receiving the necessary documents from the insurance company, we scheduled an appointment with Rebuild and they were out to install our roof within 2 weeks. </p> <p><br /></p> <p> </p> <p>The roofing crew did a great job.  They were on time, polite, and hardworking. They did a great job of cleaning up, and hauled away all debris.  A supervisor was on site.  The job was completed in one day.</p> <p><br /></p> <p> </p> <p>We are very happy with our roof, the way it looks, and our experience in working with Rebuild, Inc.  The entire process was smooth and stress free. We would highly recommend working with Randy Spect from ReBuild, Inc.  </p> <p><br /></p> <p>(By the way,  the cost of $11,175 is the total cost of the roof.  We only had to pay our insurance deductible.)</p> <p><br /></p> <p> </p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p>   <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />m <br />"

"I wanted to replace my 23 year old builder installed French doors to the patio with a good quality sliding glass door. I got 4 estimates and though Dayson Shafer was not the cheapest price (he was in the middle), I had more confidence they would install it right. Wow, am I glad I went with them. When I was getting estimates, some of the estimators made a big deal of the difference in size between the French doors and the standard slider, like it was going to be a difficult installation, but not Dayson. He was like we do this all the time. The quality of the door he offered was very good. The time between signing the contract and installation was 6 weeks, and the installation took about 4 hours. Chris did most of the installation, Dayson assisted for about an hour. The door was installed just like Dayson had told me, with proper flashing, sealing, and framing. They do so well they make it look easy, but none of the builder installed doors in my house are done correctly so it must not be. Chris cleaned up completely before he left and the door looks great. This is a customer focused group of folks. When Chris was finishing up, I asked about the foot lock I wanted. He said one did not come with the door, but he had one in his truck and then installed it for me. No questions, no hesitation, just first class service. Highly recommended!"

"From start to finish it was a great experience. Fred came out and spoke with my husband and myself. He was very sensitive to our needs and budget. I loved the door that we chose. Installation was amazing the crew arrived on time and treated our home as if were theirs. I would definitely use this company again."

"The technician was very professional.  The company is not about wanting to replace a roof without even looking at it.  They were the only company that I felt truly understood that most homeowners can't just spend $5,000 to $10,000 all of the time.  I'll be calling them for any repairs or replacements in the future.  <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Essex, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
