"Two months ago I decided to redecorate my whole house, new counter tops, new paint, lighting, some furniture, and new carpet. This was something I had thought about for the last 13 years, since first moving into this house. Due to an illness that evidentually took his life, my husband was not comfortable with any changes, so this project was delayed for 13 years. I planned to have everything coordinated so that when the mess began it would just continue to the end, with no interruption. After shopping every available carpet supplier in Fort Bragg, CA, I was pleased to hired Coast Carpets. Before walking into their place of business, I knew exactly what I wanted, light, organic-looking berber with a padding that would accommodate this carpet being installed on a cement slab.
Cindy and Pat, husband and wife owners, were so helpful in not attempting to dissuade me from my choice of a very light carpet. Cindy was very professional in explaining the type of padding they would suggest and why. That produced a lot of confidence and trust. She was able to provide an estimate within 24 hours after Pat measured my house. I had done my homework and knew approximately what the carpet per yard should cost. Coast Carpets' estimate was well within my expectation. I signed a contract with them and provided the 1/2 of total cost as a down payment.
A couple of days later, I recieved a call from Cindy informing me that the carpet I ordered, a Mohawk berber, would not be available until later in the year when it would be milled. I went into Coast Carpets and was able to find an alternative that I was as happy with as my first choice. She checked immediately as to it availablity. It was, but a limited amount. Pat calculated that there would be just enough to do the job. The "go ahead" was given.
Cindy kept me aprised of the progress of receiving and laying my carpet. I was notified that their carpet layers would begin my job on July 1, 2013, and they would be arriving any time between 7:00 and 8:00 am. I am not a morning person, but if it meant getting my new carpet, so be it. I was up in time. Ted and Dale arrive around 7:30 am and got right to work. Almost immediately I could see these two men were very respectful and considerate. They moved all the furniture out and even made sure that I would have my sleeping arrangements undisturbed. They worked through the days nonstop. It took them 2 1/2 days. They moved the furniture back in and did a couple of unexpect things. First, they put the bed skirt back on the guest bedroom bed. And, secondly, when they were bringing my power recliner back in, in two pieces, Ted notices one of the brackets that holds the back in place was slightly bent. Using his metal work skills, he straightened it to its proper orientation. The reason I am telling you this is because, this chair never quite worked the way it should. When I contacted the seller, Willitis Furniture, I was told it worked like that because of the carpet. Well, with Ted's magic touch, it works perfectly now. Just a little unexpected bonus from the carpet layers.
My final review of Cindy and Pat as owners of Coast Carpet and Dale and Ted as carpet layers is that they are good and honest people. I could not be happier with the final product. In fact, it looks better than I had seen it in my head for the last 13 years. I would recommend them for any flooring project.
"

"Yelton's Flooring and Construction is one of the hardest working, on time, on budget companies you can find. James and his crew arrived on time and prepared to work each of the 8 days they worked for me. The team removed popcorn ceilings, painted, electrical, plumbing, carpet, and beautiful flooring installation. Everything was cleaned up every night, and James walked me through everything that was done each day. He never hesitated to do anything that I threw at him every few days and always with a simile. James and Yelton's Flooring and Construction are honest, hard working and sincerely care about the customer and the services they provide.
I would highly recommend them for all of your flooring and construction needs.
"

"Great quality oriental rugs. They were very patient with us - we needed three rugs for a new home and we went through a lot of inventory. The price was fair - the quality of the rugs was high. And, they delivered/installed/moved furniture to get it right! Would highly recommend Pak.
"

"It went well. She arrived on time. She listened as I explained some special needs and wants. She showed me different carpets that were available. She gave me samples to live with and then return. She arranged for delivery and installation that worked with other planned events I was dealing with. I was also very happy with the installer.
"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Fort Bragg, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
