"We recently remodeled our entire basement that was considered a major project that lasted roughly seven weeks.  We did hire a contractor but the flooring was outside of the project.  We initially received three to four estimates and was shocked with the range of costs when comparing similar flooring.  Our basement is below grade and even had flooring "experts" recommend products that contained wood which could be compromised with moisture.   <br /> Roughly halfway through our remodel with no flooring commitment, we received a recommendation to contact Floor Coverings International.  They were professional and quick to respond with an on-site estimate and full disclosure of services.  They guided us to the most appropriate flooring for our space.  They had financing options and very flexible on install date.  The cost compared to other similar flooring options was very reasonable - other quotes we received were double this amount! <br /> We had a two man crew that disposed of the old carpet, leveled/repaired concrete slab and installed the new floor.  They were extremely professional and completed the install in one day.  The sales office followed up right after the install to make sure everything was perfect.   I would highly recommend Floor Coverings International and would continue to use them for future projects. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"I prepared the four rooms that I wanted cleaned by removing all breakables, and moving potted plants and side chairs into another area. The 2 technicians arrived within the 3 hour window I was given for their arrival. They identified themselves, and were friendly and well mannered gentlemen. They reviewed the rooms that were to be cleaned, and explained the process. It took them less than an hour to clean, sanitize and scotch-guard all four rooms. In the meantime, they paid particular attention to high traffic areas and the few pet food stains that I pointed out to them. When they were through, the entire carpet looked brand new, and the house smelled fresh and clean! <br />"

"Wonderful experience! I contacted Weeks for an estimate after seeing floors that were installed in new houses and talking to the builders. Cameron arrived on time for the appointment and gave me an estimate that was comparable to others estimates I received. I decided to go with Weeks based on their reputation and the number year they had been in business. Cameron provided guidance on the type of floor I needed since my house is on a slab. I was remodeling my kitchen prior to the installation of the floors and Cameron was very flexible when I had to reschedule the install date twice. The crew that removed my carpet and installed the floors were fantastic! I was amazed at how quickly they installed the floors. The hickory floors are beautiful! Highly recommend Weeks!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in High Point, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
