"Joe was great! He was the first to call me back, asked for more information, gave me a better quote than the ones I had received. He was top notch with punctuality, nice, good conversation. I will definitely hire him for my plumbing and similar needs again. Thank you Joe, I look forward in using your services again!"

"Expensive $11.5K to put in a shower in place of a tub, done in one day. Asked for brushed nickel, but got chrome everything. Asked for 2 shelves but just got 1 which they say is standard. They came back next day with 2nd shelf insisting I did not order. I do not know how a family can get by with 1 little shelf for shampoos and soaps, or why one would be standard. They left wall unfinished and floor untrimmed. Minimal retrofit. It works. Plastic and chrome, but works for now. My other retrofit tub with 6 shelves cost $1750 installed labor + materials, 1/10th the price."

"Excellent! Matt did the work while we were away. Provided us with daily texts and pictures of progress. Very satisfied with finished product. So much so that we retained his services when remodeling a section of our downstairs. This project required removal of existing cabinetry, laying of ceramic tile, plumbing and installation of new lighting. All of which was done in a timely, professional manner. His services will definitely be utilized in future projects. Highly recommend as he is very reliable, affordable and truly cares about achieving customer satisfaction."

"This was a major plumbing overhaul/update of my bath and kitchen plumbing. The pipes coming into the house had to be accessed through holes in the side yard, and the basement wall. Since my bathroom would be torn up, I decided on a partial remodel. Experienced Plumbing provided me with names of a tile installer, plasterer, and a resource for my flooring. The entire EP team, and all of the people they recommended, were wonderful, coordinating their schedules to get this job done. Ron and Angela were so friendly and considerate, monitoring progress every step of the way to ensure my satisfaction. I will certainly call or recommend Experienced Plumbing LLC in the future."

"Great I came home one night with my water heater leaking and called around the next day to see who could come out soon and to get prices. Great Lakes gave me a reasonable price and more importantly they could come out the next day. The day the came there was a snow storm but Elvin showed up on time and did a great job installing it."

"Jim was patient and let me pick out the faucets, taking time to really find what I wanted. Then he picked up the faucets at the store for me! He worked after 7pm and completely finished what he was doing. I told him he was my favorite plumber. I will definitely call him if I need plumbing work again. (He put in a water heater for me before and worked long hours for that too.)"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Kalamazoo, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
