"I spoke to the owner, Mike, on Tuesday and the system was installed on Friday. This was a replacement for a 14-year-old system (different brand) that failed so we knew what we were looking for and there was no hard sell or upsell involved, Mike listened to what I was looking for and recommended an appropriate system. The installation tech, Joseph, and plumber, John, were very personable, and the work was completed in a few hours and looks neat and tidy. Overall, a very pleasurable experience."

"I have used Maddox plumbing for 10 years. They have always been very reliable and courteous. However, when things do not go perfectly that is when you can tell the true quality of service. I recently had an evaporative cooler installed. The technician did not install a new roof jack and stand for the new cooler. When I notified Maddox, they responded the next day and said that they would take care of this. They had a new stand and jack built and delivered it to be installed at no additional charge. I highly recommend them."

"It did not go well. I got conflicting stories from various people. When installers came, one did not speak any English. Neither introduced themselves. The countertop, despite two visits and laser measuring, was done incorrectly, with gaps at all four corners of the sink. They tried filing it in with adhesive, which fell out the next day. They then sent another person who did fix with gaps - albeit there should never have been gaps, but the guy who was to reset the sink, left it dripping on my rug, and then did not put it in straight and I had to insist that he sealed it. They left a mess both times when they left, and never apologized, and I never received a follow up on my satisfaction. The quartz itself is good quality but the service was bad and I would never use them again."

"Septic inspection done, Large pump truck came, left Ruts in both sides of property trying to get to new tank. They were going to repair Ruts only after I contacted them. The timline for repairs was more than a week, I was also getting an appraisal on the property done, so the Ruts needed fixed quickly. I fixed them. It took me 4 hours, digging by hand raking and such. Now they were going to send two men and a skidteer 80 miles round-trip for the repairs. I called them for an adjustment on the bill since I saved them the trouble and kept my appraisal timline. After two weeks of contacting them they finally agreed to adjust the bill $50, on an $820 charge. It would have cost them more than that in fuel, not a fair adjustment at all. For not even contacting anyone of the damage done and poor adjustment I can't recommend them in good business practices. "

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Las Cruces, NM

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
