For the street trees, he was well-versed in Vancouver's street tree ordinance and suggested a species that conformed to the Urban Forestry's guidelines. They were planted skillfully, with the surrounding sod carefully sliced away in a neat rectangle. Jim helped us choose the lighting fixtures from a catalog, again offering knowledgeable suggestions when we had trouble making a specific choice. He and his employee installed the entire system in one day. I drove home from work at dusk and was surprised by a beautiful, soft ambient light around the periphery of our front and side yards. It is absolutely stunning! Jim is warm, easy to talk to, and very flexible. We were so thrilled with his work and confident of his expertise that we decided to contract with Detail Landscaping to perform our weekly maintenance program! I am writing this review because I appreciate that she did not sell us a product that we were ready to pay for, and instead gave us an honest assessment of our situation. "I emailed the guy and he got back to me very quickly. Because the water line is on the other side of the driveway they would have to go under the driveway and that jacked the cost up significantly. The guy got back to me very quickly, he googled the address and said "here's your issue, it's going to be very expensive and this is about what it will cost you" I didn't proceed with it but from the stand point of when he got back to me, he got back to me very quickly. When I gave him the address, he got back to me very quickly after that and gave me a kind of diagnosis if you will that I confirmed with a neighbor that had the same issue and he said yeah, the guy is spot on. It is in fact an issue, they have got to do that. I didn't proceed with the job due to the expense, but I wasn't disappointed with the service. The guy could have smoked me, he didn't screw around he just said here's what the issue is. I was impressed that he took my address, diagnose it and get back to me. The guy was all over it. I was pleased with it. I sent an email early in the morning 4:30 or 5 o'clock and I had something back by 8 am. I didn't do it because of the cost it wasn't an issue with the service or the responsiveness."
