"About 100 l.f. of cedar picket fence was removed and replaced. The work was quoted promptly with an estimated start date. All questions were answered promptly. We were emailed and called prior to the work starting. The crew was professional and neat. The work took two days; one to remove the old fence and install new posts and one to install the fence. The crew was easy to work with and offered suggestions for solving little issues. They even put up a temporary fence for the dog. The old fence was hauled away. The area was cleaned when work was complete. We are very happy with the new fence. This was the most pleasant experience we’ve ever had with a contractor. I highly recommend Defence Enterprises."

"Time consuming but worth it. They understood Ann Arbor's local ordinances better than any other bidder, and were the most competitive bidder (if not by much, but they still were the lowest bidder). They made multiple trips to ensure the estimate was accurate and took pains to find a fencing solution that would comply with Ann Arbor's convoluted rules, yet be both functional and aesthetic. Multiple install trips as well, to deal with tree removal issues and weather problems. Final installed fence is beautiful. We likely will follow up because the locks installed on the two gates installed are proving difficult to manage, but I fully expect this issue to be resolved satisfactorily. (We have not yet contacted them about this, so it's not their fault that this issue remains unresolved - it's been a complicated year for us and, having worked with them, we trust in their ability to resolve this concern later. If we are wrong about this, we'll follow up on our review.) We found Upright Fence through Angie's List, and it was a good recommendation. We would do it all again exactly as it happened if given the option. We are so relieved to have the old, collapsing wooden fence removed and a new, vinyl fence - properly installed along the lot boundaries. Our thanks to the Upright team...we can understand why they've been in business so long. Experience does indeed count for something."

"The quote process was very good with quick initial response and quick email follow ups. <br /> The job prep of taking out the old chain link fence went very well and the new metal pols for the new fence were installed in concrete as they should be. Some firms do not put the metal poles in concrete but only pound them in. <br /> The install also went great and the end results are super! <br />"

"They were exceptional. They came when they said they would and they charged what they said and they did what they said. For the fence, I think I got one of those things that are made out of the new vinyl stuff that are used, and it's a private fence and a big one as well. So they put that all the way around it, and it's a corner lot and so it's a lot of them. It ended up costing me about $8000. They were very responsive. They gave me an appointment time to come out and do the estimate, and they showed up. They gave me the estimate and they set up a time for them to come and do it. They showed up and did the job. That's a big thing for me because I tried another fencing company that did come out and look, and then they said that they would call me and give me the estimate, but I never heard from them again. Then a month later they called and asked if I decided not to do the job. Star Fence was very nice and very professional. They were quick when they did it. I'm very happy with it. I will use them again in the future."

"It went very well in fact.  Jason and his crew were very respectful in my home not only with their conversation with me but how they spoke to each other as well.  Even the music that they listened to while working was not rude or crude.  They came when they said they would.  They always cleaned up after each day's job.  And, they didn't damage my home anywhere else in the process.  Jason had no problem redesigning the plumbing, removing a huge tiled built-in bathtub and steps, and installing a shower with a European glass door and glass on top of 1/2 walls which permits more light into the shower.  Another 1/2 wall was built for privacy and a taller style toilet was installed.  12 x 24-inch ceramic tiles were used on the floor and on the walls of the shower.  Travertine was used for the baseboards and for the sills on the 1/2 walls of the shower.  My old stained sink cabinet was reused and now sports a golden Venetian granite countertop and white sink.  A single-handle Delta faucet was installed that operates with just a touch on the handle or base.  Lovely!  Even the kahki-colored paint blends very well with the tiles and countertop chosen.  I am very pleased with Jason Catlin's work and would hire him again in a heartbeat.  Matter of fact, a problem arose where the soap dish in a shower bath upstairs was not maintained and the water from the shower leaked into the half bath below.  Now there is mold behind the soap dish behind the wall.  I will be very happy when Jason can return and remediate the mold in the bathroom and rebuild what needs to be done."
