"We use Laury for repair and maintenance of our heating and cooling units for our rental properties and each time we need something done, the staff at Laury never cease to provide quality service. The technicians are always knowledgeable, thorough, courteous and pleasant. We recently had an HVAC system installed in one of our units and the home is rather large and is over 100 years old and there was not a whole lot of empty space to work with. The guys at Laury were able to install the system and all of the duct work and components involved neatly with the age and make-up of the home in-mind. They were pleasant throughout the entire installation which took almost a week. They were always on time and always communicated the process with us. Laury is a trusted business with many years of experience behind them. Prices are also extremely reasonable given the cost of services right now. Warren you are the man!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We received excellent service from NILES HULL, who performed a pipe repair for a hose attachment in our driveway. The job was $533, and was done well, with pleasant, knowledgeable service. I highly recommend Harris as we've used them for many plumbing and electric projects in recent years. NILES HULL was knowledgeable, caring, and attentive to detail. They stand behind their work. "We canâ t say enough about the quality of the job or the integrity of this company. Our project manager, Joe, did a thorough evaluation of the moisture content of our block foundation (unlike another contractor who sent a salesman with a hard sell speech), and described our water issue and its potential solutions in detail. We had an interior drainage system installed on three exterior walls of an addition to our house, along with a sump pump. Joe moved many of the items in our basement as part of the prep work, and his crew did an excellent job keeping the dust from the concrete removal to an absolute minimum. The final floor blends perfectly with the old concrete, and the system is performing exceptionally well. The work was done in a day with an appropriately-staffed crew of 6. The clean up afterward was excellent. As with any major construction project, questions or issues arise. The hallmark of a great company is the way they address these, and the management of Dry-At-Last are the consummate pros."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Penns Grove, NJ

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
