"The plumbing is working again.  Provider disconnected the leaking pipe section during the first day of service, allowing us to use both hot and cold water in parts of the house.   This allowed us to have a half functioning house until the problem was fixed a few days later.  This saved us from going to hotels or work for showers. <br /> Provider also cut out the sheetrock carefully, reducing the costs for refinishing the walls. <br /> Careful cleanup of the mess at the end. <br />"

"<strong>Excellent quality work</strong>, prompt, organized, and courteous. <br /> He provided good info that helped us make a decision about which water heater model to choose. <br /> He even did a few extra things for safety reasons without even being asked. <br /> He was very honest and didn't try to sell us a more expensive water heater solution. <br />"

"In January 2017 had a problem where the secondary sewer line serving the laundry and kitchen areas was blocked. Obtained estimates from three plumbing companies including Leak Free. All three agreed the line was broken under the house slab foundation so could not be repaired. All three gave estimates for a new line. Steve at Leak Free came out and not only provided the lowest estimate but also included patching of inside and outside walls after completion of sewer line as part of job. Steve and his team completed the job within three days and delivered on everything promised. Am happy with Leak Free and would call again for any plumbing issues."

"Cody, the owner of GL Plumbing & Mechanical, first came to my house in response to a water heater emergency, which he handled quickly, expertly and professionally. I was immensely impressed not only with the quality of his work but also with his work ethic, honesty,  politeness and kindness. I asked lots of questions and he answered all of them thoroughly and with just the right vocabulary and detail. For all of these reasons, when he came to reinstall the water heater on the platform (he had had to temporarily install it on the garage floor while we waited for the platform/drywall/cabinet to dry out and be repaired), I made an appointment for him to come and take care of a number of other more minor issues which had recently arisen. He gave me a two hour window of time in which he would be here and called me about a half an hour before his arrival to let me know he was on his way. Once he and his helper arrived, they both worked hard to finish in a timely manner. Again, I was full of questions, not only about the work they were doing, but also about replacement bathroom fixtures that I was considering buying. He answered all those questions patiently, advised me on what to avoid, and gave me good recommendations about what to keep in mind. I found all of my interactions with Cody to be pleasant and the cost of service to be fair. <br /> Cody shared with me a bit about how and why he got into plumbing and told me outright that he loved being a plumber: it isn't just a job to him; it is something he loves to do. I already knew that...it is patently obvious. He works with such enthusiasm and expertise that it couldn't be otherwise. Whenever I have plumbing needs in the future, I won't hesitate to call GL Plumbing & Mechanical. <br />"

"We experienced a slab leak that practically destroyed the wood floor in our house.  We asked 3 companies to evaluate and quote a full repiping. From the moment that Avi walked into our house to prepare a quote, it was clear that he has repiping down to a science. I was still in disbelief when the project took 2 days, just as promised. Avi was on site most of the time supervising the work. His team knew exactly what to do and did it very efficiently. Moreover, they've been the cleanest contractors that we have ever engaged (no dust at the end of the day!!!). <br> <br>After such a pleasant experience, we later engaged Avi to help re-route our irrigation system as we were suspecting another leak. It was another fine job done by his team. <br> <br>Moreover, Avi has been more than helpful, and has gone the extra mile, with any questions we have had on any of the work that he has done with us. He's on our speed dial for all plumbing work. <br> <br>Thank you Avi !!! <br>"

"Benny Zadikian and his son Coco had to replace the pipes behind a shower wall to install an updated shower valve and fix the leak(s). They followed the manufacturer’s instructions to the letter, and they were only satisfied when it was done perfectly according to those instructions. However, the manufacturer’s retro-fit kit was faulty due to a very obvious design flaw. It simply would not fit, even though the instructions and numerous manufacturer’s representatives stated it “should.” Therefore, I had to order a new shower trim and handle, at added expense, due only to the manufacturer’s design flaw – not Benny and Coco’s work. Unbelievably, the new shower trim and handle also had another obvious design flaw and would not fit either! This could have required entirely new piping – until Benny thought of a way to make it work. It was only due to his dedication and creativity that the new shower trim and handle now fit – despite the manufacturer’s second design flaw, which Benny corrected. Fortunately, the hot & cold valve stems were easily replaced. Benny Zadikian and Coco are as dedicated, honest and creative as they are knowledgeable and professional. Their work as impeccable. I referred them to my step-daughter and her family, and they were equally as pleased. I’m glad to say we now have a “family” plumber!"

"When I called I had been given and arrival window and date. A little bit after the arrival window time started I was called and told that he as on his way. He arrived shortly thereafter. I showed him where the work was to be performed and the new disposal. He removed the old disposal and installed the new one. Some piping had to be added to adjust for the larger new disposal. The pop ups were done without any fuss. Total time was less than two hours. I paid the bill and he was off to his next job. The work was done very professionally. I would use them again without thinking twice."

"The crew arrived on time, and let me know whenever they needed to turn off the water, and announced when they were almost done so I could plan out my day. They hauled away the old water heater which saved us a lot of time and effort to remove. Overall very professional and reasonably priced."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Santa Barbara, CA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
