Since the tub hardware was old and corroded, I didn't want to take a chance of making things worse, so I decided to call in a professional; that the toilet started leaking was a (happy) coincidence for me, so he or she could do that at the same time. He vented 2 bathroom fans to the outside, instead of the attic; replaced a GFCI outlet in bathroom; replaced 2 wired smoke detectors; adjusted 5 doors that didn't close properly; drywalled 2 holes in basement ceiling/wall; added styrene panels to 3 light fixtures in the basement; replaced kitchen lazy susan hinges; completely rebuilt and stained porch railing."
