"Each time we’ve hired Nicolas’ Hardscapes I’ve just given Nicholas a basic idea of what we want. He offers his own ideas and produces a better plan than I had ever imagined. His workers are masters of their trade. The final product is never less than perfect. We’ve engaged Nicholas over the past several years to do five separate projects and have pleased with the results every time."

"We hired them to dismantle an existing walkway beside and behind the house and create a new one. WOW! It’s so beautiful and structurally sound. These guys are so easy to work with. The owner Dave, was able to make our somewhat hazy dreams a reality. Site manager Terry is knowledgeable and friendly. The staff are considerate of our property and friendly. We couldn’t be more pleased."

"4/5/ 2026 Had 1 Oak install a new walkway and update an older brick walkway, total length about 130 feet. Three key takeaways from this project. 1. The 3 D rendering of how the project would look is exceptional. It takes all the guess work out of how the completed project will look. 2. The communication as the project began and throughout the project was extraordinary! At least daily updated as the project materials were ordered and throughout the project. Harvey was on sight to inspect the materials when delivered and daily as the project began through completion. 3. The work was completed without any delay after started and the installation crew was efficient and thoughtful about the surrounding landscaping. Extremely pleased with the completed project and quality of work. We believe the pricing was extremely competitive."

"I cannot say enough good things about this lawn care service! My yard had gotten completely overgrown, and I was feeling overwhelmed trying to keep up with it. From the moment they arrived, I was impressed by their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for the work they do. They transformed my lawn from overgrown and unmanageable into something I can feel proud of. Every edge was perfectly trimmed, the mowing was done with precision, and they left everything spotless. It’s clear they take pride in their work and treat every property as if it were their own. I truly appreciate the meticulous care and respect they showed throughout the process. The difference they made in just one visit is incredible, and I finally feel like I have my yard back! I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for top-notch lawn care with excellent professionalism."

"Kevan & Drew at Drain Designs were fantastic! First let me say it was refreshing too actually, have someone respond and follow up to a call. I had called several companies/persons but none either responded back or showed up for their appointment. So, I was a pleasantly surprised when Kevan responded to my voicemail and showed up for the scheduled appointment. Water was leaking into my back room from underneath the deck and creating issues. Kevan came out and assessed the problem and devised a solution. Kevan & Drew showed up as assured. The process was explained every step of the way, so I had a very clear understanding of what was being done and why. Both Kevan & Drew were professional, and their work is quality work. I would definitely work with Drain Designs again and would have no issues recommending them to others. You won't be disappointed!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Smithfield, NC

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
