"I have rain water undermining the driveway near my attached garage. I reasoned that pumping a supporting substance would not only fill in the "undermined soil", the substance forced in under pressure would also support the concrete driveway. The inspector informed me that my theory would not work and that what I needed was pea gravel inserted into the hole created by the drainage. He seemed quite competent and I accepted his assessment. It was refreshing to have a candid answer rather than "we can do it" even though the attempt would not have solved my issue"

"In the end it all turned out better than expected. Had a little trouble with the concrete company but Lewis and son would not settle for half a**. Excuse my language. They went above and beyond to make sure it was done right. I would recommend them 10 times over. Wish I could included photos of the job well done. I got a 12×12 slab to extend my existing slab. Great Job!!!!"

"In early November I made a series of grievous errors. I took the recommendation of a neighbor on a concrete contractor without doing my homework. I called, he showed up that day and said we would have a driveway in the next three days. The next day he showed with a crew and took my old driveway out. Then 5 weeks of excuses started on why it could not be poured. Short of it was the guy had been 'featured' on WRAL for pulling the same scam before. After lots of stress over Thanksgiving and more excuses I turned to Angie's List and Mohamed with International Concrete.
After a short discussion on the phone, Mohamed said he would stop by later in the day. He gave me a call before showing up and we did the estimate. Three short days later I had a driveway.
Mohamed is a pleasure to do business with, was punctual on all meetings and he and his crew delieved above my expectations. I look forward to working with him in 2016 to get some patio work done.

FAQs for concrete injection leveling mudjacking projects in Smithfield, NC

Mudjacking and foam jacking differ significantly in both materials and methods. Mudjacking uses a cement-based slurry to fill voids beneath a slab, while foam jacking uses expanding polyurethane foam delivered under high pressure to achieve superior structural support. This material distinction enhances load-bearing strength and overall stability in your repair.

Mudjacking takes between one and three days to dry completely. During this time, it's important to avoid putting weight on the slab until it's fully cured. The drying time depends on the project size and environmental conditions. In contrast, polyurethane foam used in foam jacking can cure in as little as one hour.

No, mudjacking is not a permanent fix for sinking concrete. While it effectively lifts the slab and can last five to 10 years, it doesn't address underlying soil issues that may cause future sinking. For a more permanent solution, you might consider foam jacking or complete slab replacement, which can address deeper structural problems.
