"I needed to replace my old A/C system that was no longer cooling. Through Angi I set up estimates with three different contractors. MAP Construction was one of the first to reply and I believe had the best quote for what I was looking for. Matt was very friendly and professional and explained everything that would be involved. The installer did a fantastic job. There is a reason MAP has a 5.0 rating. And I highly recommend them to anyone looking for heating and cooling services."

"We live in Marietta, GA. I needed gutters repaired on a rental home we have in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Our first estimate from a vendor in the Cleveland Metro Area to only repair the gutters that were damage by high winds was a complete ripoff. That vendor knew we would not be able to come to Shaker Height to see the work done. Then we called KC Roofing from Angis List. KC Roofing installer Josh Cates gave us an estimate that REPLACED ALL THE GUTTERS ON THE HOME for much less that the first estimate we received. So in the words of the Late Great Tina Turner, KC Roofing is "Simply the Best"! I will continue to do business with them in the future!"

"Buckeye Roofing did a great job. The workers were great. got the job done in 2 days. Cleaned up everything afterwards and was very polite and friendly. The Owner Brent Collier came out to our house and explained everything he was going to do. We had 5 roofing companies come out to our home but Buckey Roofing was the only one that did not have a mark with the Better Business Bureau. Our roof was old and had a lot of wind damage and Brent took a lot of pictures and worked with our insurance company and they paid for our roof. My neigbors have told me what a great job Buckeye Roofing done on our house. One neighbor asked for their number because he want a new roof next year and would like to got with Buckeye Roofing. All I can say is if you need a new roof talk to Brent Collier with Buckey Roofing. You will not regret it. Bev"

"I our roofing consultant Steve was excellent and explaining insurance all that needed to be done is very knowledgeable about his job and we appreciate all the things that he did for us. He was very polite and courteous, and I always had a smile on his face.. all of the work was done in a timely manner and that is why I gave them a five star and we recommend this company to anyone who needs roofing work or replacement. "The roof job on my home was outstanding!! Santos is a perfectionist! I've never had a job done that went so smoothly and so professional! Santos is knowledgeable in every aspect of roofing, he knows roofs from the inside out. He explained and showed photos of the entire job as it was installed. His crew worked hard to get the job done right the first time. Now, our roof is of the utmost quality work for a reasonable price. Santos is an honest man, my quote never changed! He went above and beyond to make me happy with the work his people performed!! I'm extremely happy and satisfied! I already recommended Santos Martinez Roofing to all my family and friends!! Thank you all for exceeding my expectations!!"

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Solon, OH

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
