"We had Matt come out and give us an estimate in March and he informed us that he was booking for the end of July; he even suggested a few competitors if we wanted our patio in earlier. We decided to go with The Concrete Company, despite the wait, and we can say: the wait was totally worth it. Our patio is beautiful and his team was just the best - my toddler and her friend were fascinated by the work being done and the workers talked to them, explained what they were doing, and even sang songs with them (!). The process was completely seamless and I appreciated that, when a slight issue popped up (a basement window we didn't even realize was there!), Matt came up with a simple solution that didn't involve any added expense. Can't say enough good things about this company."

"I couldn't be happier with how our patio project turned out and would highly recommend Ageless Concrete. We really had no creative idea what we wanted, just a rough general idea. Aaron did a fantastic job designing a project that we both loved from the initial draft. HIs crew was excellent, timely, and very hardworking and easy to work with! We love our patio!!"

"These guys were great. Project was pushed back several weeks by heavy rains but they were able to get to work as soon as things dried out. Quality job and great customer service. I plan to have the replace my front steps in the near future. <br />"

"Excellent! They worked with our schedule; let us know if they were behind; all the work was done professionally; the results looked fantastic and they helped us put a little decorative stamp into the concrete. The helped us with putting in a nice curve too. It rained right after the job was done and they made sure to cover everything with plastic so the concrete would not be damaged while it was curing. It was a big messy job but they cleaned everything up and left our yard as neat as possible. Very nice folks, friendly and easy to work with. We are calling them again for more work later."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Stoughton, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
