"Patio Enclosures was fantastic, the subcontractors that came to do the job were not. However, Patio Enclosures sent two Field Supervisors over to spend and entire day addressing all of our concerns. Overall, their customer service is what made us happy with this project and we absolutely love our 3-season room!"

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"Subcontractors were mostly good, but management of them was lacking. I had to personally supervise them because the on site contractor rarely stayed very long. Told the trim finish crew to leave because they did not know how to install crown molding. Got another crew that knew what they were doing. They never asked for periodic payments during the job (as is typical); presented one huge bill at the end. Holland homes builds nice homes, but I would not recommend them for small jobs like mine because you do not get the best crews and you have to wait for them to fit you into their schedule."

"For over eight years, whenever we needed anything fixed or upgraded in our home we called Jay Timmerman. He has done a wide variety of repair work for us and helped us get our house in showcase condition when we were ready to sell it. He always did excellent work and was honest and dependable. For him, the job was not done until we were completely satisfied. We even trusted him enough to give him a key to our home. I wish we could find someone like him now that we have moved to Texas."

"The overall experience was great. Ken is super nice and is far from being a pressure salesman. He went out of his way to make sure we had the look we had envisioned. Ken's guys are very hardworking and extremely professional. Despite the grueling heat you never saw them complaining or without smiles on their faces. They worked very quickly and took pride in their work. The siding turned out much better than I could have ever imagines and if that wasn't enough they even volunteered to do some painting and to install new lighting just so that everything about the house looked just right. Ken was also very meticulous about the work being done just right. I have never seen a more professional and just overall nice group of people. If that isn't enough believe me when I say his work speaks for itself."

"<p> They did some excellent work on our upstairs. Below, they didn?t use anyone professionals for the plumbing. Didn?t glue parts together and it leaked everywhere. We're having to spend more money to have it fixed. The owner physically worked on our property for only three days. The work crew had little guidance from Tommy and they often had little idea about what else needed to be done after finishing what task they had been given.  This led to them leaving early many days causing the job to take much longer than it should have. The bathroom looks amazing but the technical(electrical / plumbing) work behind all of it had to have a lot of rework. We?ve spent a lot of money fixing their mistakes.  The reason we had the new shower built was because our old shower had standing water in the improperly built shower pan.  The new shower pan/floor is holding more water than the old shower did. The drain is higher than the surrounding tile floor.  The carpentry and the tile look great, but don?t trust this guy with your electrical or plumbing, his crew does not really know what they are doing in these trades.  If Tommy does know how to do these, he wasn?t on the job to make sure they were done properly. After he realized that his mismanagement of the project was really starting to cost him money, he no longer worried about cleaning up HIS mistakes as evidenced by the blatant failures in quality control in the end. </p> <p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <p><br /></p>"

"I like Allen construction!! Richard knew how to estimate, measure exactly, keep within the budget and come on time promptly, clean up completely and finish early. Richard, and his employee were very polite and considerate. He was always on time, work was quickly prepared and done promptly and he knew how to almost do anything inside or outside the house.. <br /> I have used Allen construction two time and was extremely satisfied with his work performance during and after the projects <br /> <br />"

"I first contacted Roger McMunn in the fall of 2014 about removing our existing wood deck and replacing it with a covered concrete patio. While at the house to figure his initial estimate, Roger listened patiently to all of our questions and concerns and gave us good input on different size options, the placement of the patio, etc. His estimate was affordable and he also gave us different estimates for different size options we had discussed previously. The project was put on hold due to bad weather and uncertainty from my wife and I about the patio size. We didn't get in touch again until January 2015 when Roger checked in on us to see if we were still interested. I informed him we were and asked if he could give us an estimate for a larger patio size which included an extra six feet of uncovered concrete to one side. Roger gave us the final estimate which was still affordable and later sent us a Scope of Work document with all of the details of the project. I brought up a few questions/concerns regarding some of the more specific details in the proposal. Roger addressed every single one to my satisfaction and sent out a revised Scope of Work document.  <br /> Work began on February 10th, 2015. On this first day, Roger and other members of his work crew took down our old wood deck and excavated the area to prepare it for the concrete slab. This included taking down a few shrubs and later setting up the forms for the slab. The next day another crew poured the concrete. Roger was in constant contact with me to inform me what was going on and even made sure the larger trucks avoided driving into our back yard so as to minimize any damage to the grass. Later that afternoon, the concrete was taking longer than expected to set up (due to the moisture in the air), but Roger's concrete crew stayed with it (until almost 8:00 that night!) until the concrete in the slab finally got set. The next day another crew arrived to install the metal patio cover. This included taking down a section of our existing gutter and attaching the cover the existing wood fascia. On the final day (the 13th), Roger, his son, and another worker arrived to install a set of concrete steps and a handrail while the patio cover crew arrived to finish the cover installation. Roger continued to be present to address any questions/concerns I may have had. At some point, one of the trucks that drove onto our driveway had accidentally pulled a suspended cable (for our house internet connection) that hangs over our driveway. Roger's son and his work partner hung the cable back to its proper place (actually in a better spot than before) and later brought to my attention a problem with my roof which I was unaware of (a problem I confirmed with other roofers who looked at it later that month). After a week or two, during a good rain, I noticed a slight water leak forming over the center part of the patio cover. I contacted Roger about the problem and he immediately contacted the head of the patio cover crew who then called me to address the problem. His crew came out in a few days, fixed the leak, and so far we have not had any further issues. <br /> We are very happy with our new patio and look forward to using it a lot this coming summer and in the coming years. Roger McMunn is extremely professional, friendly, easy-going, and patient, and is always ready to address a customer's questions or concerns. I would highly recommend his contracting company and will certainly keep him at the top of our list for any possible future projects. <br />"

"They do covered patios, enclosures, pergolas, and guttering. They will even replace all the facia board before they do the gutters. This price included the roof, soffet, and the wiring for the speakers and the new fan. They re did the gutter system last. It is glass from floor to ceiling except for a couple windows that we asked them to put in. It is double pained and my plants and cats love it. It is an average of 74% at all times."

"We just completed installing a motorized retractable awning from [*** Link removed ***] and are super pleased with the quality of the build, appearance and customer support.? This Italian-designed, engineered and manufactured awning is assembled and shipped from RetractableAwnings.com Florida plant, so if you need assistance with the install, you should contact a local handyman, carpenter or contractor.? Ours is a Palermo Plus, 16 ft. wide, with an 11 ft.-10 in. projection.? The Internet salesperson, Eric Scop, V.P., really worked with us to understand all the options and get fabric swatches.? We ultimately selected a combination Rain/Sun sensor and Vibration sensor to automatically retract the awning in case of heavy rain or excessive wind.? I spoke with Rocky, their installation expert, for advice on preparing the ledger board to attach the awning to our vinyl sided home, right below the soffit.? His advice was instrumental in making the install go so well.? Further, the awning arrived already programmed to the Soliris transmitter and the motor limit switches were also set.? It shipped in a fiberboard box (this one was about 17 ft long and 1 ft x 1 ft square, weighing over 200 lbs.), which was extremely tough.? The truck driver ignored the box orientation stickers and used a hand truck to move it from the center, rather than two hand trucks, one at each end, per the clear placarding on the box.? Despite this, it arrived in great shape, other than a couple minor paint scratches, which we will fix with touchup paint they are sending at no charge.? While the enclosed wall brackets were different from those described in the installation manual (an improved design), installing them was no problem. An extra bracket was included, which we also installed as this will be a large ?sail? on the side of the house and we want it to stay there. We extend our sincere thanks to the team at RetractableAwnings.com, and for those review sites that accept photographs, we include the following photo."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Troy, AL

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
