"<p>First I want to say that the prior owner of this home did not put in adequate drain field for the size of this home or properly account for how many people would be living in this home.  This is no fault of speedy septic & I do not hold them responsible for prior home owner errors.</p> <p> </p> <p>That being said Speedy Septic did diagnose problem and installed a new drain field that was supposed to accommodate the size of the home and the people living in it.  It didn't work.</p> <p> </p> <p>Speedy suggested we decommission the current sand filter & replace it with a commercial grade filter.  Again this did not work.</p> <p> </p> <p>Our home has the capacity of over 3000 gallons of septic waste with tanks installed by speedy.  Currently these tanks have been converted with the city of Portland's approval and with necessary and required permits to a holding pond situation.  We currently have an approved plan by the city to connect out home with the sewer.  Design took eight months to complete and an additional 2-3 months while speedy sent or took bids for work to be completed.  Speedy claimed that delay was the fault of the city, claiming that design had to be submitted and resubmitted multiple times.  Speedy provided no documentation of delay and very little communication with us.   Whenever WE contacted speedy we were told "it's almost done" or city this or city that.  Final estimate is upwards of $68000. We have not determined what course of action we are going to take.</p> <p> </p> <p>As my wife and I run an adult care foster home from this location our options are somewhat limited. Issue will ultimately be resolved. What form resolution will take remains to be seen.</p> <p>I must say I have looked on other websites and was very surprised at the rating speedy was given.</p> <p> </p> <p>This issue has been one of incredible frustration & I posted this review in a period of venting.</p> <p>While venting I did not fully take into account the cities role in this problem. "I had a clogged drain that no amount of plunging could get rid of. I called several companies. I initially went with Mr Rooter because they were the only ones that could make it out that same day. Glad I did. The technician was very pleasant and he took his time to explain all the steps he was doing and let me watch as he put a camera down the drain and showed me on the screen where the clog was and all the build-up in the pipes. He then brought in a high pressure washer and I watched on the screen as he cleaned the pipes all the way down to where it joined up with the main sewer line. I initally thought the estimate was a little high, but not after watching all that they (his supervisor also showed up after an hour to help out) did."

"Is it weird to say a septic service company are angels from the Lord, because that is how we feel today. I’m about to have our fourth baby and we discovered a clog that resulted in leakage (I’ll spare the details)onto our lawn where our kids play. I called A Affordable Septic, they were so kind and helpful on the phone, and called their technician who got to our house within HALF AN HOUR. He figured out the problem, not only fixed it but also cleaned up the leaked sewage (which we were not expecting!) and bleached the area, and pumped our whole system. Three hours from discovering this unfortunate event the problem was SOLVED and our whole system is working better than ever. He also took his own initiative to fix the broken pipe and cap we hadn’t gotten around to and order us a new clean cap. What could have been a disaster or at least major headache right before a new baby was barely a blip on our radar. And he did it all kindly with three excited young children wanting to “help” dig out the drain. Price was affordable and we are so appreciative!"

"Our existing septic tank was only a few years old, but the associated drainfield was failing and required replacement. Due to a small lot, our options were limited; but rather than a huge and unsightly bottomless sand filter, we opted for a less obtrusive (but expensive) treatment unit and pumps along with the needed replaced drainfield.
