"I like using fellow vets and Chris who served our country! It is important for me to trust who I hire for ongoing work and Chris earned my trust right away! He proposed a completely different approach to the quote, replacing only one 17-year-old furnace! He also suggested air treatment equipment for killing bacteria and viruses and keeping the ducts squeaky clean! He did several other projects for me around the house as a package deal that was still 25% less than my other quote which would have replaced two compressors and 2 furnaced and then serviced all four units. The other deal was superb, but I was convinced I did not need to completely replace units that were just 6-7 years old and valued his proposal for cleaning and repairing them. I just do not have enough room to tell you the different things he did, but I considered his services to be great and they made me happy. He offered great value, at the price he quoted. Thanks again, Chris, I look forward to a long relationship."

"I submitted requests for bids to two companies, the second of which never replied but who needs them when you've got O2Kool who called within seconds of my post - literally! Now we've experienced awesome customer service, quick response to bid requests before but they're not always followed up in the actual appointment SETTING but I'm please to report O2Kool was at our house ahead of their appointment time within 24 hours. Given we're almost in the dead of summer and A/C repair is running technicians ragged I hadn't expected that, nor did I expect the incredibly reasonable price to repair the problem diagnosed after quick analysis of the air handler, drain lines and condenser units. It is so refreshing (literally and figuratively - hahaha!) to have an experience that merits top scores in every category, but our experience with O2Kool certainly did. Arriving early - but with a phone call to make sure it was okay; scheduling within moments of calling on the bid request, keeping the appointment that was made within days of our inquiry plus professional, courteous and friendly folks and very conscientious about where drain lines emptied, removing shoes, etc., kind of above and beyond in all categories, really. We're thrilled to have reliable A/C specialists at our disposal - lord knows we need them all too often!"

"Butch called back right away. Came out in a timely fashion. Got one unit working. Then he said the main board was malfunctioning on the downstairs unit and would have to be replaced. It would cost 1200 or 1300. But if we spent a little extra on a service contract he would wave the trip fee and it would be 1100 something. Okay. We did that. It was too late for him to get the board that day so he came out the next day to install the board. But the unit still didn't come on. He said the thermostat was bad and it would we 300 to 500 to replace the thermostat depending on what we wanted. My husband told him we could do that ourselves. Just by pass it and get the unit working. Then he came down and said that the blower motor was out and it would be 1800 to replace the blower motor or 2400 to just replace the whole unit and then we'd be under warranty again. I told them I wanted a second opinion before we did that. I called Ed & Sons they came out, confirmed that we did need a new thermostat. And said they could rebuild the blower motor for around 100$. I ordered two new thermostats for 300 for both of them and my husband installed the thermostats. The work they did was fine. But I felt like they were more of the school of let's just replace parts until it works or we can sell them a new unit. Rather than what can we fix."

"July 2017 OAT +101 (F) -one of my AC units stopped working. I called them at 3:30 P.M. Wed. and they tried to to help me that same day , but of course, with the temps in the 100's they were very busy with other emergencies. They got to me first thing the next day and had my A/C up and running within a few hours. Great service! Great communication! I would definitely recommend them. They will do all my future HVAC work."

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.
Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.
Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.
Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.
Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
