"The diagnostic evaluation description changed from my purchase date to the appointment so the service was not what I expected.
I hired the company to seal my ducts. The price was reasonable but on the date of the appointment, only a portion of service was performed and the time of the appointment was not as scheduled. The remainder of the service was rescheduled when I called the company. The computer that shows pre and post duct sealing leakage was on the fritz. I was supposed to receive a copy and have requested this multiple times. I still have not received this. The servicemen are very professional and seem quite competent. The schedulers, receptionist, business office end of things is atrocious.

"I originally hired Carpet Police to clean the carpets in my house. They were the first to respond when I got on Angie's List. Somehow, Carpet Police got usurped by another company called Arizona Island. Arizona Island did a terrible job and I called Carpet Police, again, to please come and repair the bad carpet cleaning that was done. Carpet Police did as good a job as I could possible expect to fix what went wrong. Alfonso was efficient, friendly, wore his mask when he was inside and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"Top Air Care was the PERFECT company to hire. They take all the care in every part of the job. From scheduling to install there was so much attention to detail I felt in great hands. They picked up after themselves and even called a couple days later to make sure everything was still working properly. Will definitely keep hiring them and I recommend you do too!"

"Excellent service which provided outstanding results. Computer was running so slow my wife wanted me to buy another computer. Using Angies List I was able to find this company who I called right away. I made arrangements to drop off my laptop on Friday night and was able to pick it back up Sunday afternoon. Took it home and it runs just like the day i bought it. James loaded virus protection software which works better than the software I bought. Very goodexperience, i will use him again.

"The person who answered the phone was professional and knew exactly what I was talking about. The technician was on time, very competent, and got three separate jobs done in two hours: cleaned the electrostatic air filter, flushed out the water heater, and reset the filter in the refrigerator. Excellent service I highly recommend."

"Had my unit replaced after having multiple issues previously. Found out it was undersized and they installed a proper tonnage unit for my house. They were quick, respectful and were fairly priced. I will continue using Prochill when I have issues and will always recommend them."
Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.
Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.
Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.
Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.
Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
