"Excellent! All old systems were removed and all new Carrier equipment was installed. This work was performed in May of 2018 so I have had a year to evaluate the heating and air conditioning performance. Other than some dampers coming loose and requiring service calls there were no issues with any of the equipment or installation work. Tyler is a great company with an excellent sales and service force. My installers were fantastic and there was some follow-up work afterwards like insect guards for the intake and exhaust of the furnace and installation of new wiring for a modern thermostat. Tyler completed all projects and I am completely satisfied and happy with their performance. I would HIGHLY recommend Tyler for all you HVAC needs. We did a complete replacement of both heating and A/C and Tyler did a fantastic job."

"Ali came over to our home when we called with a concern of the air flow in our central air conditioning system. He checked the return, the air flow, the temperature at all of the vents, and the entire system. It had more to do with the age of the system and gave us suggestions on how a different filter could increase the air flow. He did all of this and refused to take any money for his time. He is a true honest professional and someone that we would recommend to everyone."

"I really actually have a good air conditioning company. They used to be called the Unique Air Conditioning Company, or the Unique Company something like that, but they changed their name to Sila. I have an old house, it’s a rectangle and when you go in the front door you’re in basically you look like you’re in a front hall but basically, you’re in grade level and you go up some steps. Then you’re in the living room, the dining room and all that. Then you go up some more steps for the bedroom level. Then you up some more, some pull down stairs for the attic, so it is really old and it has radiators and everything. So, it took a long time. It used to be if you were going to put in central air that you had to go into the walls and the whole nine yards, but anyway, they called themselves the Unique Company. I called them up and they actually came and they really have two different systems. One is from the basement which goes up through the floor of the living room, the dining room, everything with vents and everything, and the other is in the attic and the little pipes go down into the ceilings of the rooms. The downstairs one, since your coming on grade that wasn’t as difficult, although, this is one of these old houses that’s really built so to go through the floor took a little doing. But the one way up, they had to carry all that stuff up all those stairs, and then the pull-down stairs to the attic, you know they look like big silver Slinky's and these huge vents that go the length of the house and then it has little vents that go down into the ceiling in all the different rooms. Unfortunately, that’s two maintenance contracts. That was a number of years ago, but they did a good job. If you ever have people asking about air conditioning in older house, retrofitting and older house, that would be a good name to give them. They’re in the Tri-State area. They come when I call. I have a service contract with them that was not cheap."

"H L Bowman is by far one of the best service companies that I have dealt with. I got a call that the technician was on the way to my house. George showed up and got right to work. Found my problem and explained to me the best way to fix my issue. They did not try to sell me on any pricier fixes. George showed me what he could offer and explained what would be my best option. He was knowledgeable, informative, and explained everything so that I would understand what was going on. I am definitely going to be using them for all my heating and air conditioning needs. Top notch company. Would recommend to anyone needing this kind of help."

"Advanced Professionals was very prompt in sending someone over to our office to assess the issues with our Air Conditioning unit. It was extremely hot weather and having an office full of doctors and staff was unnerving and frustrating. They were able to accommodate us right away and sent over their technician Rabi. He was very knowable and extremely helpful in resolving the issue. He was able to get us back up and running. He was very thorough and took his time to explain exactly what the issue was and gave recommendations on how to avoid this problem in the future. We are very confident in the service provided and will continue to use Advanced Professionals for any future services needed."

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Stratford, CT

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
