"I called R.Wiley, Heating and Air, and Leonard came out right away. Rather than immediately telling me that I needed to replace the system because it was so old, he searched first what the problem could be. He replaced a part, but it turned out that this was not going to work very well because my furnace was just too old. It helped a bit but it was only a temporary fix to keep the furnace going for a while longer. We then decided that I would have to replace the system. He did NOT charge me for the part or for the service call! The price he quoted for a new system, was very reasonable, and on top of that, he gave me a discount because I am a service contract client. Then, two days later, because of the very cold weather, my system decided to quit altogether on Saturday morning. I left a message on Leonards phone asking if they could come out the next Monday to install the new furnace instead of the Tuesday we had agreed on. He called me back a few hours later and told me that they had made some arrangements with the supplier of the furnace and that they would COME OUT THE NEXT DAY WHICH WAS A SUNDAY!!!! They installed the system on Sunday and in the evening my house was comfortably warm again! This is amazing service that you don't see very often! It made me bless the day I signed the service contract with R. Wiley Heating and Air a few years ago! I Can really recommend this company for its courteous, friendly, and professional service!"

"We had a technician named Jeremy come out to service our AC because we were hearing some noise coming from one of the vents, as well as to perform our routine maintenance since we’re members of their maintenance program. He did an absolutely great job! Jeremy was very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was checked and taken care of, and he even took the time to show me how to properly change the filters myself. I really appreciated how patient he was and how willing he was to answer my questions and explain everything. It’s always nice to have someone come out who genuinely takes pride in their work and makes sure the customer understands what’s going on. We really appreciate the great service from Jeremy and would definitely recommend him!"

"Hottest day of the year so far, and the guys were in a sweltering attic half the day. The other half of the day they were trying to decide how to hoist the LARGE air-conditioning unit onto a ledge without destroying the landscaping. They had to bring in a 4th guy and a long, wide plank. They put that unit on the plank and three pushed it up the plank while the fourth helped position it. The men were appreciative of the cold watermelon I gave them and I welcomed them to help themselves to jug of cold water in the fridge. They had a f ull day's work on day one, then on day two, one man returned to finish the ductwork and the installation of the vent.

"Great. Jerry Cobb came by to reprogram the thermostat for us. We were not able to figure out how to get it the way we wanted and Jerry took care of it for us. Cool Air replaced our entire HVAC system about 2 years ago. We were happy with the job and will be having them add a humidifier to the system soon."

"Had a great experience with this company. Brant was very helpful and patient with all my questions. He did one thing different from the other company's when providing the estimate. The other companies took sq footage to recommend my new unit. Brant walked the house and checked and counted my vents both service and returns. He then used these calculations and sq footage to make his recommendations. I am very happy with my new HVAC system."
Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.
Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.
Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.
Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.
Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
