Hi, my name is Jon. I am retired paramedic. Now doing handyman work. From changing a lightbulb ceiling fan to putting together furniture I have done a little bit of everything.. I do flooring as well. I can tear out carpeting and tile and replace it with laminate. I’m very fair priced.

"We called Harker Heating & Cooling and arranged for Steve to stop by a couple days later to prepare an estimate for a new heating and probably a new cooling system. Steve arrived as promised and I walked around with him as he inspected our 21 year old equipment and pointed out a number of significant items. I had a number of specific questions and Steve was a fountain of information since he has been doing this type of work for a long time. All my questions were clearly answered by Steve so I was comfortable that I knew what would be involved in the replacement of both the heating and cooling systems.
Steve priced out three different options for us, any one of which would have been appropriate. He again answered our questions on the differences in the equipment so we could make a good decision. We said that we would make a decision and let him know.
The next day we called Steve, told him the option we picked, and asked him to schedule the installation. We agreed on 9-9-2014 for the installation of the new equipment and Steve told us to expect Bill & Jeff to be at our door about 7:30 am to remove the old and install the new. That is just what happened.
When Bill & Jeff showed up, we talked about what was going to be done including removing the old humidifier & patching the corresponding sheet metal, changing the outdoor exhaust pipe and replacing the outdoor AC electrical box (did not meet new code). Bill went to work on the furnace and Jeff went to work on the AC. Along the way they showed us what they were going to install and answered a few more questions that we had. They were great. Everything they installed looks good...not unlevel, not loose ends, not uneven or ragged edges. When done, they removed all the old pieces, they went over the operation of the equipment and presented us with the instruction manuals. We were completely happy with their work and their interactions with us.
With our WI weather, both our new Carrier AC and new Carrier furnace have both run a little and both seem to be working fine....no problems with any of the newly installed. The furnace in particular is much quieter than our old furnace.
A few days after the installation, we got an envelop in the mail from Harker H&C with the Focus on Energy rebate form filled-out for us to sign and instructions for mailing it. Very efficient.
Based on our experience, we highly recommend Harker Heating & Cooling for replacing furnace, air filtering and AC units. We will also plan to use them for our future equipment servicing needs as well.

"I pay $75 annually for a certain amount of appliances to be covered. What we didn't know is that you still have to pay a service call fee and if the technician deems the appliance still functional they will not fix it and if the technician says there is nothing wrong with the appliance, they will not fix it. In other words, the appliance has to be completely broken in order for them to fix it."

Yes, buying appliances in a bundle can save you money and reduce the cost per unit. Retailers often offer discounts when you purchase three or more appliances from the same brand together. This approach not only lowers your appliance expenses but also simplifies installation coordination, providing financial and scheduling benefits.
The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current one fails or during a renovation. Major shopping holidays like Black Friday and Labor Day offer seasonal sales with better discounts. Planning your purchase during these times helps you maximize savings and aligns with your home improvement plans.
When you buy a new appliance, many retailers will also remove and dispose of your old appliances when they come to install the new ones. To dispose of your old appliance yourself, start by safely disconnecting it. If it's no longer functional, you can recycle it. If it still operates safely, consider donating or selling it to recoup some value. Some retailers offer trade-in programs for discounts on new models. These options promote eco-friendly disposal and help reduce waste.
