Comment: Have a GE Spacemaker washer/dryer 12 years old furnished by apartment complex. The apt. manager decided not to repair/replace if broken and our choice is to fix or repair it ourselves. This set is 12 years old washer does not spin all the time, knocks(Balance problem?) and you can only do small loads Dryer is in worse shape, Takes three 45 minute cycles to dry 2 towels or 3 tshirts. The dryer itself collects water while drying and drips from front door. (Heating element?) What I need to know since this is not my appliance is it worth repairing and approximate how much would the cost be to fix something that is not mine. I myself feel that a new washer and dryer would be more worthwhile investment, that I can take with me if I move. My calculations are $ 500 to $ 800 to fix, (and is it worth it?)
