"Mr. Ohi was very informative and professional. Our home is 20 years old and we were concerned about small cracks in the concrete foundation. Mr. Ohi patiently explained and pointed out various facts. Having a professional inspection eliminated a lot of anxiety about a possible structural issue with the house. The conclusion was that the house foundation is okay but the deck has problems.

"Justin came by to evaluate the job on a Saturday morning after missing our initially scheduled meeting, getting hung up on another project.  He was pleasant and knowledgeable about what was needed to complete the job.  He promised an estimate by Monday and followed through on that promise.  He was able to work us in within a couple of days later.  He and his two man crew hung the drywall in a single day, working around garage door openers support brackets and other unique cuts.  I was impressed when he pointed out that he had marked the multiple drain pipe cleanouts and valves buried behind the drywall for future reference.  The gentleman he sent the following morning completed the mud and tape work.  My only critique would be that he seemed to rush to finish and the work done in the later part of the morning did not match the quality of his work early on and it will require some touch up work on my part.  However, I was very pleased overall with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the workmen and the great attitude displayed by everyone.  I would not hesitate to hire Adam Contracting again.

"Todd Willoughby is a very talented architect. We have had the pleasure of working with him to design our custom home in Middleburg, Virginia. Todd is extremely knowledgeable about residential and commercial construction. This is our third custom home, and we have worked with several other architects on various projects through the years. My husband is in commercial construction and has worked with numerous architects in the past forty years. The biggest difference with Todd is that we felt as though he wanted to design the house that WE wanted, not the house that he wanted to design for us. He listened to every suggestion and made every change we recommended to design our home exactly the way we envisioned. His step by step design process allowed us to see our ideas come together. We were able to see whether we were achieving the look we had in mind. Todd gave us very helpful suggestions. He responded to every question and email almost immediately. He told us exactly what to expect and when to expect it. His 3D model was amazing and unbelievably helpful in allowing us to "experience" the sizes of the rooms, windows and many other little details. It gave a perspective that is just not possible to get from a 2D drawing. Todd was even able to put the civil engineer's grading plan on 3D showing the house and property. We have never seen an architect be able to do this. It helped immensely. We could not have been more pleased with Todd Willoughby's skills, knowledge, responsiveness, professionalism and ability to deliver exactly what we wanted by the date promised. His pricing for his services is very competitive and reasonable. He is truly a nice guy. We look forward to working with Todd again in the near future."

"I interviewed several contractors for my main bathroom remodel and chose VKB for their professionalism, design, and overall approach to the process. My objective was to have a large shower with a seat since the existing shower was the size of a phone booth and the bathroom configuration presented challenges. From the very first meeting with the design consultant, BURJU, I was impressed with her ideas and suggestions and her willingness to work within my established budget. She didn't recommend or suggest unnecessary or unwanted over the top items that would have blown my budget. Project manager, JASON, was on top of everything, stayed in touch with me almost daily, made sure I had all the correct cabinets and fixtures, provided me with his cell number, and asked each time if I had any questions. Last and certainly not least, MARVIN, the wonderful person who actually did all the nitty gritty hard work, worked nonstop to give me the bathroom of my dreams. "My property has never looked so good. The landscape designer was so talented and creative that I couldn't be more pleased. She moved plants, redid some of the pots on my stoop and basically made the curb appeal amazing. The weeds were expertly disposed of and my bushes looked manicured and gorgeous. The mulch was professionally done. In fact I mulch every year but have never had such a pleasing finished product.
The only negative, which was minor, was that the team arrived late. That may be due to the schedule person and not the team themselves. They certainly made up for the delay in their fabulous finished product! They were worth the wait.
This was my first experience with them, and I look forward to a continued association.

"I can't say enough how much I LOVE Jose, Kevin and the crew with JK Gardening! These guys go above and beyond. I love how Jose has eye for the littlest details and he always one step ahead of me with something that needs his attention on, he already thought it and has solution on how get it done. I originally hire Jose a while back where he did retainer wall and did beautiful job so I knew he was capable of doing great work with my next project. My front stairs were never right they little wonky. When I approach Jose and Kevin about new design idea from my front steps and walkway they were on it and together we came up with show stop walking way and stairs. It didn't stop there. My driveway was always a "hot mess" with sump pump kind in middle of driveway. Once again Jose, Kevin and I came with up an design idea for the driveway and they delivered. Now I'm envious of the neighborhood with my beautiful new stairs, walkway and driveway. Thank you guys... you are the best!!"

"I wish to highly recommend Michael Shannon and his company, Managed Renovations, to anyone considering a home renovation or construction of a new home. We engaged Mr. Shannon in 2007 to provide preliminary construction advice and then to act as our construction management consultant so we could effectively act as our own general contractor for the actual construction of our new home in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He was involved in every aspect of the project from reviewing preliminary plans and final permit drawings, to preparing an extremely detailed estimate of construction costs, to recommending skilled and very capable trade contractors for all of the required tasks and then scheduling and supervising the contractors that we hired to do the actual construction of the house. He coordinated and oversaw all aspects of this project in a very efficient and timely manner. He maintained a wonderful working relationship with me and my wife and everyone associated with the project. Our architect was very impressed with his construction knowledge, creativity, and attention to details. His interaction with our contractors, architect, engineers, county agencies, and utilities was exemplary. He was able to schedule and coordinate seamlessly the work of the myriad suppliers, construction trades, county inspectors etc. that all are necessary for a fast, efficient and satisfactory construction project with nary a hitch. Whenever any unforeseen events or unpredictable situations presented themselves, which occur in any large construction project, Mr. Shannon always resolved these situations with grace and aplomb. Mr. Shannon was never shy about suggesting alternatives that could save us money and/or result in a better product. For example, Mr. Shannon suggested a pre-cast concrete foundation construction technique that resulted in substantial cost savings and a stronger, more resilient foundation. He also suggested we have our excavation and concrete contractor install a specialized interior and exterior foundation drainage system so that the frequent, heavy rains we get in DC would never result in a drop of water in our basement. Over the twelve plus years that weâ ve lived in the house, and through may violent storms, weâ ve never had a drop of water anywhere in the house. This attention to â doing things the right wayâ is a value and practice that is lost on much of the home construction industry today. I cannot overstate his diligence, attention to detail, and his determination to help us build the house of our dreams. He was available anytime, day or night, to meet with us, and address any questions or other aspects concerning construction. His creative suggestions, integrity and willingness to â sweat the detailsâ is utterly beyond reproach. Often, on weekends and sometimes even late at night, we would see him at the construction site, reviewing the work our contractors had performed, to be sure that they had done their jobs correctly and that the house was durable, structurally sound, and a product for which he and we could be justifiably proud. And for this work, he never charged an extra penny beyond that which was called for in our building services consulting contract with his company. Finally, by enabling us to act as our own general contractor for our project, Managed Renovations allowed us to build our new home for less cost, less risk, and with more control (just like Michael told us he would help us do)! In a word, Mr. Shannon and Managed Renovations was the best!"
