"Amazing! I purchased a tiny 200+ year old cottage. Before I made the offer, we had a structural engineer look at it, as it was crooked and quirky, as cottages tend to be. He said all was sound, and gave me a list of remediations for the structural GC to make. We made an offer the next day based on that, and based on the tiny size, the GC felt comfortable making the remediations without plans. When it came time for structural inspection, the town said given we had not used plans, they wanted an engineer to take a look post work. The original engineer refused, saying they only offered post-remodeling inspections for owners whom had hired them as structural architects. I called AJA, and he came out the next day... a total lifesaver as we were holding up the whole project for sign off. He did a thorough inspection, giving a few small, additional recommendations, which we made. We passed the next inspection with flying colors. Because the house is old and quirky, it was not only the home inspector, but also the town commissioner on hand. AJA was quick, communicative, and professional. They were thorough, but not trying to upsell. Happily recommend them to all!"

Our requirements consisted of a rather large deck, a bridge (12?x29?) with a cover/portico section and exaggerated soffits. All these requirements were in Mid-coast Maine where significant winds, attacking from various directions, are prevalent and cause for multi-axis planning to control potential environmental considerations. Mr. Schott continued to provide engineering advice/direction after the sub contractor failed to adhere to specifications and induced the need for modified engineering solutions?even after having concluded the initial scope of work."

The job required demo, architect drawings, inspection, installing LVL beams, adding recessed lights, replacing wood flooring, and drywall. The whole job took about 4-5 weeks. Garrett walked us through the whole process and was always very prompt. If he said he would show up at 9 AM, he would show up at 9 AM. He was also very upfront about our costs?no surprises.
