"Very friendly and quick to get the job done! We had made small talk about me *eventually* replacing some ceiling fans, so when they retextured the ceiling, they left the fans off the ceiling instead of reinstalling them. Other than this misunderstanding, very good job!"

"Haim and his crew exceeded expectations, stayed within budget, and got the job finished fast. After a broken water heater flooded half our house, we needed new floors and the walls, which had been “flood cut” two-feet up all around had to be repaired, replastered and repainted. Haim was very helpful, explaining the process and various options. He gave me good advice on why things we could do to make improvements without braking the bank. I also really appreciated how he found a way to fix the problem that had led to the flooding in the first place - devising a way to add a drain pipe where there was no obvious exit. His whole crew was hard working, dependable and great at their jobs. There was one section of drywall that was really difficult to patch as it received a lot of natural light and was right under a bright ceiling light, which tends to expose even the smallest flaw. Haim’s drywall expert worked on it over and over until it wasn’t noticeable at all. All in all, they went above and beyond painting several additional walls and doors for me just to make sure it all came together perfectly. The cost was very reasonable, in line with other quotes I received and in some cases less. I highly recommend GH. Give ‘me a call!"

"A plumber had to Swiss cheese our wall and ceiling to fix a leak. Archie came out the next day, showed up 15 minutes early and had the job wrapped up quickly. He pays attention to details: not only drywall texture, but had to repair trim work on our coffered ceiling. Left us with some cleanup, but he's a pro."

"The Drywall Services crew was professional and got the job done beautifully and quickly. We had them build and install about 3000 sq ft of ceiling tile and grid. Armando and his guys were prompt and he communicated with me throughout the entire process. Their bid was slightly higher than the other company but their professionalism won them the job. I definitely recommend them and will use their company in the future."

"Alan and his team did an awesome job and took great care of us! He answered our call and immediately came to see us (on his day off) to conduct an estimate and start the job. Everything looks like new and all the other jobs were done perfectly! Alan and the team cleaned everything and even disposed of the large boxes from the chandeliers and ceiling fan for us. I highly recommend Alan and the team for any home contractor needs in TX Hill Country!"

"I hired Sonart Construction to remodel my sons bedroom and they did a great job. The price was very good, they was on time with their job, and it came out beautiful. Very good company."
Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:
Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?
What is the best tile size for my project?
What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?
How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?
What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?
Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.
Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.
Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.
Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Easy to install and repair
Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements
Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance
Available in various styles to suit your design preferences
Cons:
Reduce ceiling height
Tiles may require replacement after a few years
Less sturdy than traditional ceilings
Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall
Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
