"Hired Jose and his crew for a second job (Spraying Ceiling Black), and they did an amazing job as expected. They were very Careful of the painted walls and the floor and everything was contained and cleaned up afterward. Jose Was very upfront with us and his work ethic is one of a kind. He stands by his work and that of his crew. We would hire Jose again and again, they do amazing work, you wont be disappointed."

"Contacted and he returned call the same day.. He was busy, but when he got time to call he did.. He said he would come over the following day and look at the job and if I wished he would give me a quote... Which he did, and I chose to take his bid... He said he was extremely busy, but could be able to start the project within the week... He phoned me a few days later and asked if he could start the following day... Of coarse I chose to take the start day, since I needed ceiling done before wife could start to paint and have carpet installed... He came over as described, started in and got everything set on Saturday and asked if it would be alright to come back on Monday to finish the job... Ok by me and he had to do a lot of leveling, since I had had water damage when I had purchased the home... I have had quite a few homes, not just my living home, but have had rental property also, and have had many plasterers... He is fantastic... The only other plasterer I have ever had I no longer can find... I think he must have moved out of our area, so got Dennis's name from Angie's List and thought I'd try him... He has now done my basement bathroom, a soffit area in the kitchen and now the living room... You should know I had never met or heard about him until I got on Angie's List in January or February... First time he came here he did the bathroom and the soffit area and I was so pleased with that -- I called again to get his availability... He has a great personality, will answer any questions, and very professional... Work done speaks for itself...
If you need a plasterer and want a great job -- don't be afraid to call him.. He does top notch work and I'm sure, as I too, am very fussy what I pay and get from others... You will be pleased with your outcome...
Should you wish to see his work before calling him.. Call me at 815-218-0214 and I'd be more than happy to show you some of his work... You will agree...

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:
Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?
What is the best tile size for my project?
What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?
How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?
What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?
Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.
Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.
Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.
Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Easy to install and repair
Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements
Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance
Available in various styles to suit your design preferences
Cons:
Reduce ceiling height
Tiles may require replacement after a few years
Less sturdy than traditional ceilings
Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall
Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
