"Needed a contractor that would handle a small renovation that involved removing an existing door and replacing it with a larger one and it proved to be a difficult task until I tried using Home Advisor. Almost immediately after posting the job, I was contacted by Brett Michel of Avalon Services. Within a few short days, he visited our home, surveyed the project, and provided a very reasonable estimate. A week later, he was on site to begin the task. Brett is extremely knowledgeable about home repairs, is meticulous in his work, and very considerate of his clients. The remodeling and repairs were done quickly and to perfection. I highly recommend Avalon Services for just about any home remodeling project without reservation."

"Dave Templeman (owner of The Painting Company) met me onsite and provided an estimate for the work I wanted done. He was actually ready to perform the work faster than I was ready for him. He left paint strip samples to help us choose the color we wanted. We were able to buy the paint at his cost. Dave was very good at keeping in close communication with me before and during the job. He was always available via his cell phone.
On the day Dave and his crew showed up to paint, they discovered a crack in the ceiling sheet rock from the water which had leaked in during the snow storm. Dave called me and explained the problem and had me look at it before proceeding. They even discovered an additional water leak I was unaware of. Once I approved the additional work, they were very fast at fixing the problem with the sheet rock and finishing the painting. The original job was expected to take only one day, but due to the sheet rock problem, it took an extra day. Dave arranged it so they completed the work in back-to-back days to limit our inconvenience.
I was very pleased with the work performed and plan to use The Painting Company to paint the exterior of my home in the coming spring. I have already received an estimate for that job. Dave and his crew were very professional and conscientious - even to the point of offering to watch my Labrador Retriever while they were at the house painting and adjusting the house's thermostat due to some unusually cold temperatures."

A drop ceiling is a type of secondary ceiling that is dropped down below the actual ceiling of a room, hence the name. It’s made up of ceiling tiles (made of fiberboard, foam, wood, metal, or plastic) supported by a metal grid. The space between the drop ceiling and the structural ceiling can be used to hide wiring, pipes, and HVAC ducts.
Most drop ceiling installations take about two to three days, including the time needed to build the grid frame, install it, and place each ceiling tile properly. Your installation might take more time if you need to modify plumbing, HVAC ducts, or electrical wiring to accommodate the new ceiling.
Most drop ceilings require a clearance of at least three inches from the structural ceiling, though you’ll likely need more than that to make space for pipes, ducts, lights, fans, sprinklers, or wiring. In many places, building codes require a minimum ceiling height of seven feet, which can limit the amount of clearance you’ll have between your drop ceiling and structural ceiling.
Yes, you can paint a drop ceiling, but it’s not always recommended. Painting a drop ceiling can sometimes void your warranty because using improper paint or technique can cause the tiles to sag. Paint can also negatively affect the fire resistance, soundproofing, and light reflection of the panels. Consider these downsides before taking on ceiling painting costs.
