"Ed did an awesome job on our popcorn ceiling removal in a vaulted sunroom. He was prompt, honest, and communicated frequently about progress. He even followed up once his work was complete to ensure we were happy. Definitely recommend this pro for anything!"

"They did a wonderful job and were great to work with. They replace some porch boards, painted the garage door and front door, replaced weatherstripping around garage, painted the trim around the front of the house and the windows as well as painted the porch. They had started work and had to pause because of a storm but were really prompt about rescheduling to two days later and got the job done really well. Would definitely recommend and we plan to hire them again!"

Customers say: Quick response

"It was great! Carla came out to look over the house and give me an estimate. She was very nice, punctual and assessed my home fairly. We agreed upon the price and a date to provide her services. When the day came for the cleaning Carla and Kevin came right in ready to get to work. They worked hard and were very eager to please. Even though it was their first time at our house they got to work and I did not have to stand over them and micro manage. They know their business and perform it well. I remained in the house while they cleaned and worked in the office. When it came time to clean the office Carla worked around me until I had time to shut down the computer and let her have to the room. Dusting, scrubbing, polishing, vacuuming and more....they did it all. I had just had the air ducts cleaned and things had dust on them from before the ducts were cleaned and even more right after ( until things settled down). So, they had plenty to dust. Most of the flooring was new and they took special care to clean it properly (new laminate- Pergo) and even cleaned up some paint marks and heavy scuffs on the old vinyl flooring in the laundry/mud room. I have a rescue dog that is afraid of anyone coming into the house. She barks and carries on. But to my amazement, she took to both Carla and Kevin and stopped barking pretty quickly and even engaged them in playing...remarkable! That is a testament to their kindness, gentleness and good hearted nature - that is important to me in having someone in my home. We discussed what would be a good plan for keeping our house clean. Carla and Kevin will be back in a month. I look forward to seeing them and having them put their sparkling clean touch on our home once again. It was a pleasure to have them in our home...and what a beautiful job they did! Now, I understand that this is the first time I had them in to clean and lots of people put on a good "show" the first time and then things slack off after that. I do not expect that to happen with Carla and Kevin. But I will update this review in a few months to let you know...in the meantime we are enjoying our wonderfully clean home."

"Needed a contractor that would handle a small renovation that involved removing an existing door and replacing it with a larger one and it proved to be a difficult task until I tried using Home Advisor. Almost immediately after posting the job, I was contacted by Brett Michel of Avalon Services. Within a few short days, he visited our home, surveyed the project, and provided a very reasonable estimate. A week later, he was on site to begin the task. Brett is extremely knowledgeable about home repairs, is meticulous in his work, and very considerate of his clients. The remodeling and repairs were done quickly and to perfection. I highly recommend Avalon Services for just about any home remodeling project without reservation."

"Very neat and professional job.  This was a large job estimated at 2 weeks - essentially the whole 2nd floor of the residence.
Started by taping and covering floor with resin paper, then cloths on top of that.  Everywhere - including closets.
- We went with smooth walls vs. orange peel and Dave's team did a great job of preparing and finishing the plaster & lath walls prior to prime/paint.  They took the time to do it correctly rather than "patch" it.  Large open stairwell had wallpaper that was removed before prep and painting.  They corrected imperfections in closets as well - even cuttting and installing a piece of drywall to the ceiling of one where some of the plaster was too loose to safely repair.
- Ceilings were patched before paint, but having older sand texture paint, were not able to be smoothed as well as walls.
- All baseboard, door & window trim was sanded and primed with all old caulk and built up paint removed at joints.  Most imperfections from older paint was removed before priming over the old latex and covering with oil based.  Same level of detail with the original 5 panel doors.
Again, this was a large job on an old home.  Compliments to Dave, Lynn and their team.  They were organized, hard working and very polite.  They have the equipment needed to do the job and cleaned up every night before leaving.  The work is professional and will last.

FAQs for acoustic ceiling tiles install projects in Branson, MO

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:

  • Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • What is the best tile size for my project?

  • What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?

  • How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?

  • What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?

Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.

Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.

Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.

Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • Easy to install and repair

  • Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements

  • Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance

  • Available in various styles to suit your design preferences

Cons:

  • Reduce ceiling height

  • Tiles may require replacement after a few years

  • Less sturdy than traditional ceilings

  • Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall

Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
