"Devin Nasvaderani of Marvel Homes rebuilt my small bathroom
from subfloor to ceiling.  Water had
leaked down through the subfloor into the dining room downstairs, so the entire
bathroom had to be rebuilt.  I took
several months to talk to a number of contractors, and I am very glad I got
Devin.  Devin listened carefully to what
I wanted, making suggestions as requested but never trying to ?upsell? me.  As an old budget officer, I was determined to
make sure there were no surprises at the end, but not only was the work
completed on time and on budget, but the extra items I ended up asking for were
delivered at less than I had expected, and were done with the same excellent
quality as the scope work.  In some
cases, Devin advised me strongly that some work the other contractors said
would ?probably? be needed, was not needed.  His ?allowances? for tile and plumbing were
the only realistic such estimates I got from any contractor, and he passed on
his contractor discount to me at the tile and plumbing shops, allowing me to
build a very nice, quality bathroom at less than the originally estimated price
point.
The work quality was excellent, and his crew were
professional, polite, clean and non disruptive. 
He managed to gain me several more inches inside the shower, put
insulation against the outside wall that the original home builder had not
bothered with, and generally fixed up all the weak points of the original
bathroom.  The bathroom, although small,
is the ?master bathroom? so the crew had to go through my bedroom to access it.  Each morning, they covered everything in my
room with plastic, put tarps from the front door to the bathroom, and every
evening removed everything and vacuumed, leaving my room absolutely clean each
night.  They were even fairly quiet,
considering the nature of the work. (the hammering etc sounded ?precise? and
methodical to my untrained ear, never just banging away.)  So, my highest recommendations for this work.

"VKB just remodeled our hallway bath, and they did a great job! Despite being a little hard to get in touch with over the holidays we were able to arrange a time for a quote. Calvin, our designer, was on time and quick. He brought up a couple of options while we were reviewing the project that we hadn't considered yet, gave us a very reasonable estimate, made an appointment for us to meet him at the showroom in Columbia, and was gone in less than 45 minutes. No pressure at all, and we enjoyed his advice and personality. When we met Calvin at the showroom and he presented us with a 3D model of our new bathroom and picked out materials, carrying samples around the showroom to see how it would all look together. It was a very easy process, and he did a good job balancing his recommendations with our style choices. We signed the contract and had an estimated start date in less than 2 hours. Watching him poke in our selections into a PDF document was the only tedious part of the process, but the showroom was comfy and just fine. About 2 weeks later Calvin and our project manager Jason arrived for a walkthrough, and Jason verified that the contract matched our understanding of what they'd be doing. We also went over the things that we were on the hook to provide: paint and hardware for the hallway door. Jason also verified the location of our water cut-off valve, electric panel, and where they'd be able to wash paint brushes, etc. About a week and a half later Jason called with the start date. When that day arrived we met Juan and Wilson, who did the actual work on the bathroom. They put plastic and dropcloths down to protect our floors and cleaned up after themselves every day. Materials were delivered when needed and stored in our garage. Some cuts (wood, tile, etc.) were made there and out by our front porch, and they also did a great job working around the rain the plagued us a few days. We were surprised how fast they went and how well everything turned out. About 5 and a half working days until our bathroom was complete. Jason collected the remaining payments along the way, the first one having been made when we signed the contract at the showroom. As with every project, there were a couple of things that didn't go according to plan. We wanted to tile all the way up the wall around the bathtub but we found that the ceiling wasn't level and it would have turned out less than pretty, so went a little shorter than planned but ended up looking like it was meant to be that way from the beginning. There was a leak in the sink drain, so we called Jason and Juan came back the next day and took care of it. I had to clean up a few places where the paint from the baseboard moulding hit the tile and my OCD couldn't just let it go. BUT the bathroom turned out looking fantastic! VKB left the remaining tile, which we donated to a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We were really surprised by how well everything worked together, from the colors to the styles, to how nice everything looks now. Our kids say it's like walking into a hotel bathroom. It feels like we really got some high end components installed for a very reasonable price. In summary, we're going to use them again for our master bathroom."

"Nicolle Paint did an outstanding job for us. We live in an older home which has plaster walls and ceilings. Over the last several years we have noticed cracks and crevices in our downstairs ceilings that were getting larger with each passing year. Moyses from Nicolle Paint came out and identified the problem and gave us a fair and competitive estimate. They started their work after completely containing the affected rooms with tape and drop clothes. When they finished, we were amazed and wished we had done the repairs sooner. Jeff Thompson and Deanna Llewellyn designed the new kitchen, taking our input and making a plan that was better than we hoped. The entire renovation process was done professionally, with respect to the fact that we were living in the house at the time. Javier led the crew, and every day the site was cleaned up and Javier took the time to explain the work they'd done that day and what they would do next. "The work went very well. It took longer than I expected, but that is because Mr. Leal and his crew do such meticulous work. My space had been bothering me for quite awhile with those unsightly nail pops. They are gone, and the ceiling looks amazing. The price was fair for the amount of work done, which included an unexpected light switch repair. Mr. Leal also did me a great favor, doing a quick fix to a longstanding problem with the freezer door on my French door refrigerator. Mr. Leal and his entire crew were very pleasant to work with: they left the site cleaner than it was before their arrival! "It is with pleasure that I write a review of Arm's Home Improvement (AHI). If there were a scale of 1 to 10, AHI would register as an 11. To describe my experience with AHI, I need to emphasize how AHI became a real life-saver for me. Specifically, I had been working with another reputable contractor for approximately 3 months, without reaching an acceptable contract. Previously, I had been advised by a window installation company that there were some issues with the triangular wood at the apex of my 3 dormers. In that regard, I had recently noticed 2 small watermarks on my bedroom ceiling. However, after a torrential downpour these small water marks had extended to approximately 4' by 6'. I realized that I had to find another contractor who could: identify problems, recommend corrective measures, & be available ASAP. AHI was the answer to all of the aforementioned issues. Allen Metcalf, the owner, immediately responded to my request. Allen is replete with both knowledge & experience, as well as having a highly organized & detail-oriented modus operandi. After meeting with Allen, he developed a contract which delineated all costs, as well as times for completion. I was quite impressed by not only the details of the contract, but also by the alacrity in which the contract proposal was developed, & therefore, ready for implementation. Allen coordinated delivery of materials & subs with the fluidity of a choreographer for a Broadway performance. Allen's staff of Jeff & Dustin were diligent in their efforts, particularly when they were working in freezing temperatures & high winds ON MY ROOF! Jeff was the lead & had a propensity for identifying rot, which was plentiful in my project. Both Jeff & Dustin were dedicated & perfectionists in their work ethics. This was indeed, impressive! Recommendations were made to replace ducts & add insulation in my attic since time had taken its toll on the original materials. Allen expeditiously developed a supplemental contract to address these issues, for which I concurred. As a result, I now enjoy new air ducts & flame-retardant insulation. In summation, AHI did not do a good job & they did not do an ,excellent job: they did an outstanding job!"
