"I received a quote for the services by email which closely matched a previous handyman's physical inspection quote. Unfortunately he had to cancel due to an accident. By email and voice mail this company stated it would take two guys. There was nothing said about an additional cost. Two guys arrived. One had a ladder but it wasn't tall enough for our garage ceiling. My husband provided them with one of his. Unprepared. After two hours they still didn't have the hole in the ceiling cut properly. It took them five hours to complete the tasks for double the price. These guys didn't know what they were doing. It turns out they'd never done it before. We got a break on the cost but the communication was terrible. There should have been a physical inspection and the double cost should have been communicated clearly. I wouldn't have hired them had I known the cost was double. Quoted two hour base price then $65 for each additional hour, estimated $315 -$380, but charged $800. Yikes!"

"Colin built and stained a custom designed 10x12 pergola as part of our backyard landscaping. The pergola has trim on the bottom and top, and custom lattice on one and a half sides.  We wanted the pergola to run part of the way along the house side to cover the water meter but still give access to the meter if needed by the meter reader, and Colin ingeniously determined that the side could be hinged and have hidden latches, allowing it to swing open if needed.
He was open to our ideas for the design, and added suggested options for how to proceed. He checked in with us as the work proceeded to double check the spacing of the top pieces of wood, the height of the top, the stain color, etc, which was really helpful to achieving the end result we had envisioned. 
He was punctual, polite, friendly, cleaned up each day, and his workmanship is excellent.
